fontanafreddo “Langhe Arneis DOC” Everything that we ordered was recommended by our waiter. This is a classic white wine to go with our pasta; very smooth and light! Easy on the taste buds.
Complimentary bread in a brown paper bag! All the tables had pre-set table settings and bread in these bags!! I liked the idea and organization of this. The bread was soft. By the way, I noticed that Italians eat their bread by itself or use their pasta sauce to dip the bread; not olive oil and vinegar.
spaghetoni al prezzenolo – vongole & botarga di mugine. This is one of their specials they had on the board! It was a light pesto pasta. The spaghetti pasta was cooked perfectly, not too soft nor too hard. The cherry tomatoes weren’t too sour and the shrimp was cooked perfectly!
ravioli with buffalo ricotta, spinach, speck and saffron. Again, the ravioli was a recommendation by our waiter and it was amazingly good! Really creamy but not too creamy at the same time. The ravioli was really stuffed and a delight to eat. The bacon bits were crispy and flavorful. It was like a carbonara ravioli! I would order this again and again. I wish food in la was like food in Italy.
They always say that out of all the pastas to try, carbonara is the one! And this carbonara-like ravioli was something out of a dream! But to be honest, pasta was good everywhere! You can’t go wrong with good pasta ANYWHERE in Italy. It’s good EVERYWHERE. The only difference is the service and the price! There’s good service at some places and bad service at others. It’s cheaper at local places and expensive at touristy traps. But food is good nevertheless.
Yum yum yum! Another local-loved restaurant knocked down by me in the beloved city of Milan! Of course this wasn’t the ONLY place I’ve eaten in Milan, (it’s impossible to blog all of it in one blog so stay tuned in the future for a recap ;)) but it was one of those classic hole-in-the-wall places that the locals love to go to. And as a tourist, I want to eat with the locals! Hearing Italian (although not understanding most of it) allows you to experience and feel some of their culture while eating! It’s lively!
I’m so sad that I’m leaving Italy. It went by way too fast! But I am even more excited to enter Paris, the romantic city of France, next! 🙂
