When people talk about going to Paris, France, they always mention a must-go restaurant to try (this is among the girls mostly). Why? Because the majority of the girls are in love with French macarons! I love macarons too. Maybe not as much as others, but as a foodie, it felt like a required check mark to complete. What’s so funny is that I completely forgot about this place while in Paris and happened to stumble upon it purely by accident while shopping with my friends. Ladies and gents, this place is called Laduree. Located on one of the big main shopping streets in paris (one side is all food while the other side is all shops with designer brands), Laduree dominates an entire corner and is certainly hard to miss.
Yes, Laduree does take up some floors up top! From what I’ve only been able to explore, there are two floors total. The second is even decorated in much more exquisite design.
It is a French thing to like to add gold to architecture design. it is very catchy! The gold gives an elegant and elaborate taste to the building.
So this is the stairway that leads to the upstairs.. No, the lady is not posing for me.. I just really wanted to take a picture of the magnificent stairway alone, but she kept standing there and looking like that.. I just gave up and took the picture with her in it anyways. I mean, I think it worked out well. This is their waitress uniform and her demeanor is characteristic of all the workers in there. You can kind of imagine what kind of ambience this place gives out. Also, must I mention that one of the most memorable things about this place is that IT WAS SO, SO HOT INSIDE. THEY DO NOT USE AIR CONDITIONER NOR FANS. THE WINDOWS ARE ALL CLOSED. WHERE IS THE AIR CIRCULATION. And now look back at her uniform. All of the waitresses were hand-fanning themselves because they were hot and probably sweating buckets underneath. As much as I wanted to enjoy the beautiful moment of being able to dine in the tea room of Laduree, I couldn’t. It was just way too hot. 🙁
jus et nectars de fruits ou legumes Alain Milliat – peche de vigne (peach). A lot of French juices are in bottles and they are almost always thick and full of pulp. Me likey! Served cooled, it wasn’t cold at all. This drink didn’t help the heat I was fighting.
chocolat Laduree frappe (Laduree chocolate frappe). This drink was slightly colder, but quickly turned into the warm room temperature of the tea room. Very thick and chocolate-y.
La Collection – cafe, caramel a la fleur de sel, chocolat, petale de rose, reglisse, pistache, fleur d’oranger, vanille (coffee, salted caramel, chocolate, rose petal, liquorice, pistachio, orange blossom, vanilla). And here are the famous macarons that everyone raves about!! They were good.. The inside cream was soft and smooth.. The very, very thin crust of the macaron was thinly crispy and super soft and chewy on the inside: a very delicate balance of the macaron was achieved! I don’t know if I explained that right.. You macaron lovers.. you know what I’m talking about? 😀 The liquorice one was my least favorite.. it tasted.. weird.. The flavors are accurately expressed in each macaron. I think my favorite in ranking order are pistachio > rose petal > salted caramel > coffee > chocolate > orange blossom > liquorice.
You know you don’t need to dine in the tea room to eat macarons! We wanted to experience the entire HOT experience.. Many people wait in line to order macarons to-go..
pain perdu Rose Framboise (coulis de framboise et Chantilly a la rose) – raspberry coulis and rose Chantilly whipped cream. We also wanted to try cake. We saw many people order cake and thought.. why not try some too? But we accidentally ordered this French toast pastry, which was actually really, really good!
whipped cream and syrup to go with the dessert.. 🙂
But all in all, I could not have been any happier to get the check and leave! It was just so darn hot!!!! But I am truly blessed to have been able to try these famous, famous macarons! <3
