Good morning everyone! I feel like our summer days are counting down because it’s September.. But at the same time we do live in the LA region and the hot days will probably number down at least for another month! So before it’s too late, I wanted to introduce you guys to cold ramen to try before it’s too late! 🙂
Slurpin’ Ramen Bar, Los Angeles, CA, recently started serving cold ramen. Now what is that?! I went here with the expectations of eating yummy, hot tonkotsu ramen in a cold restaurant, but when I saw that there was cold ramen here, I had to try.
This restaurant decor is pretty cool; not your traditional table-serving restaurant for private parties. Instead, there are bars to eat at and long tables where multiple groups are joined together. I kind of like this new idea of seating. It’s different.
Look! Can you spot what I noticed right away? They use the same tools used to cook ramen noodles in for napkin holders! Haha
Iced green tea. Refreshing 🙂 Now you can check in on Yelp and get two free 0.50 toppings or a free drink. We chose the drinks 😀
slurpin’ ramen – tonkotsu rich pork broth ramen with green onion, garlic, dried seaweed, black garlic oil, and choice of meat (chasu, fatty pork, chicken breast or tofu)
cold ramen. Now this is what we’re talking about! Instead of broth, it’s like super thick, condensed, gel-like broth? A thick sauce. Like ramen broth refrigerated. There are so many toppings on this ramen!! It was hard to focus on one thing and I couldn’t figure out what was going on. The taste is very different: not your usual salty, savory taste. Instead, it had a more sour, but not-so-sour taste. I can’t really describe it. It tasted pretty good and definitely different from anything I’ve ever tried. Really refreshing and yes, it was cold!!
Here is a picture of the green noodles! You can see the cucumbers, cold yet yolk-y egg, grape tomatoes, bamboo, bell peppers, chicken, etc. feels a lot healthier and less fatty to eat than the tonkotsu ramen. Also way more veggies!
So if you guys aren’t scared, check out this place and give cold ramen a try! 🙂
