There is something romantic about dining up on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower in the most romantic city in the world with your sweetheart. So many love stories were made and told in Paris, France. I always knew that one day, I would be able to see the Eiffel Tower in person and take a picture in front of it.. But I never thought I would eat lunch up the first floor of the Eiffel Tower and be able to look out the windows to the Paris grounds spread out in front of me! For a foodie, this was perfect! Being able to enjoy delicious food up the Eiffel Tower.. What can beat that?! The restaurant up the first floor of the Eiffel Tower is called Le 58 Tour Eiffel. The food was expensive; there is no surprise there given that it is happening in the notorious Eiffel Tower. However, it was delicious and with good food and wine, the ambiance created was amazingly wonderful.
So let’s start off with some appetizers! They were petite but still delicious! I have always preferred quality over quantity π
As always, we always choose different things so that we can try a variety of the most menu items as possible from one visit! π These are our two appetizers.. Petite I know.
crevettes, pates et petits pois, coriandre et epices douces (prawn and pasta salad; green peas, coriander and mild spices). This appetizer reminds me of Vietnamese food back home.. the hard and cold types of meats that are usually snacked on with a cold beer. There is a taste of liver, pate, in the dish, which I have always liked.
euf dur mayonnaise, legumes du moment, mimosa (egg mimosa, seasonable vegetables). This looked so cute and surprisingly stole my taste buds! At first, I was terrified about that scoop of mayonnaise on the egg, thinking it was too much fat.. but it was actually really good and really creamy. It was the perfect amount of mayonnaise mixed in with the whole dish together. I guess it served as the “dressing” of the dish.
dos de saumon a la plancha, legumes de saison cuisines au basilic et a la tomate (seared salmon fillet, vegetable minestrone with tomato and basil). The salmon was perfectly cooked and was flaky. This dish kind of reminds me of a lesser soup version of Mexican corn coup with a salmon plated on top.
poitrine de volaille rotie, pommes puree aux herbes, sauce chorizo (roasted chicken breast, herbs mashed potatoes, chorizo cream sauce). It’s always a pleasant surprise when a dish blows your mind with its surprisingly deliciousness. I never would have thought that I would enjoy eating this so much! It sounds so basic and plain, but all of the simple flavors were just bursting in my mouth and reminding me of an elegant version of childhood Thanksgiving turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken was well cooked, moist, soft, and flavorful. The sauce was savory and the mashed potatoes were extraordinarily creamy. This was my favorite dish of them all!
cappuccino. Cannot go a day in Paris without a cup of cappuccino. π
Overall, this was a very fun dining experience! It may have been a little over-rated to eat up here, but hey! You only live once! How often can you say you ate lunch up on the Eiffel Tower? Not many, and it doesn’t hurt to try once! Looking back, no regrets π The walk after lunch was nice too! The entire first floor of the Eiffel Tower was the largest part of the base one floor up, where you can walk in a square-circle and check out Paris 360 degrees!
Au revoir Paris! C’est incroyable! <3
