Okay, okay.. I am in Europe.. in Amsterdam, Netherlands.. Why am I eating ramen here?! When I can eat the mouthwatering ramen back at home in Little Tokyo? WHYY?? It wasn’t my pick.. But hey Dutch people.. You guys have pretty good ramen here too! Amsterdam of the Netherlands is like the Los Angeles of California.. There is such diversity of ethnic foods here.. Such a variety of delicious, different tastes.. Like how you can almost eat anything in any genre GOOD in LA?? It’s the same as in Amsterdam. So.. Ramen-Ya of Amsterdam, Netherlands, you are good. (They even have their own website! That’s more major props yo)!
We got two different types of hot teas.. forgive me, I forgot what kind of tea leaves they are.. but I like the cups!
chicken kara-age – fried chicken (ideal beer snack). Crunchy and tasty! The menu was right; this would have been good with beer.. Too bad I don’t like beer 😀
the hakata (this tonkotsu ramen from the Hakata region is one of Japan’s favorite styles of ramen. The pork bone broth is cooked for at least ten hours to achieve its thick, rich and creamy taste. Topped with pork charsiu, half-boiled egg, memma, leek. nori and sesame seeds).
AND
kimchi ramen (ramen with kimchi in a light chicken broth. Topped with kimchi, spicy moyashi, pork charsiu, half-boiled egg, black wood-ear mushroom, spring onions, nori and sesame seeds).
Looks like pretty decent ramen yes? If I didn’t know better, I would have thought I had teleported back to Little Tokyo in LA and in a ramen shop somewhere! But nope, we’re still in Amsterdam! I’ve never had kimchi in my ramen before so there’s a first time for everything! And what better place than a foreign place like Amsterdam! I mixed the kimchi within the broth and it was delicious! Lightly spicy and sour from the kimchi. The ramen noodles were cooked pretty well and firm; not too soft. It was delicious kimchi ramen! What a great fusion for a popular Korean sour appetizer with a Japanese main noodle dish!
I had to take a close up of this picture! I still wonder if it were able to capture the flakiness of the charsiu pork meat.. It was extremely soft, fatty and tender! Delicious, delicious!
Good job for serving up some top-notch ramen Amsterdam! I never would have guessed 🙂
