We didn’t have to look or walk far in Florence, Italy to find one of the best places to eat pizza: Gusta Pizza. This small little shop makes individual sized pizzas and have a very limited menu with a lot of the same ingredients. However, all very good. It can get quickly crowded, but it’s one of those places with bar tables and high round tables where you sit and eat your pizza quickly and leave! Not much for talking. You’ve been waiting for so long that you’re starving and once you get your good-smelling pizza, you just inhale. The turnover rate of people getting in, eating, and getting out is fast!
We barely beat the lunch rush. Looks empty now, but after we got in and ordered, a huge crowd of people of many parties just flocked in. I guess we bring the customers? 😀 Or just get plain lucky.
All of the workers were very friendly and energetic! Look at this one go at our pizza toppings! You can tell they use fresh veggie ingredients, not to mention.. Making our pizza dough from scratch too! It was fun watching all of the energy of the workers as they all go bustling about to fill our orders.
Can you spot our ticket? It’s right there!! Haha! We decided to follow the herd and include a little bit of memory of us, a little bit of us in Italy.. I would like to think that it’s still there.. in Italy.. in Europe. <3
calabrese – pomodoro-salame piccante-basilico-mozzarella (tomato-spicy salami-basil-mozzarella). Yummy!!!! Tasted so fresh, so cheesy, so tomato-y, so savory, so flavorful! The only hard part is not having pizza pre-cut in slices for us like we’re used to in America. Nope, that’s alright! We’ll eat like Italians while in Italy! 🙂
caprese – pomodoro pachino-mozzarella di bufala (cherry tomatoes – buffalo mozzarella). Would you believe me if I told you this pizza was still bubbling, still boiling when out of the oven?! 😀 Super hot, super juicy. It might have been on the watery side, but blame it on the tomatoes!
It’s hard to say that there is even a #1 pizza place in Italy. I feel like in comparison to America, almost all pizzas are delicious in different ways wherever you eat it! Doesn’t matter what city, doesn’t matter what restaurant. But I’ve got to say, this place hits near the very top 🙂
