With over 300 Yelp reviews and holding a 4.5 star rating, K-Towne 88 in Rancho Cucamonga supersedes all Asian restaurants in the area. The city is still very new with its Asian influence. In fact, when you search for ramen in the city, this is the ONLY place that serves it. Is it good? Well, we shall see..
Judging by all of the pictures, their bulgogi fries is the star dish of this little place. It is actually more expensive than most of the ramen dishes too! From the picture, it looks appetizing.
Here is our cheesy plate of bulgogi fries. They were generous with the melted cheese on top, which I know anyone can always appreciate! There are many small bits of bulgogi beef laced underneath all that cheese. There was also a sweet sauce that joined the savory fries and beef and cheese. This is what almost everyone orders.
However, the ramen didn’t deliver.. 🙁
This is the cheesy ramen. Can I tell you I was a disappointed with this dish?! Being sick and all, I was really craving ramen and stuck in Rancho. However, even judging by the looks of ramen noodles and consistency of the broth, it looks like what one can make from a package of instant ramen. Tasting it only confirms it too. I think this is Neoguri instant ramen!! I could have made this at home. Actually, I have made this at home!! Just cook up a bowl of instant ramen with egg and top some shredded cheese on top.
This is their bowl of spicy ramen. Again, it looks and tastes almost exactly like Neoguri Spicy ramen instant package.
Their spicy beef tofu comes with a side of rice. You’re also given a raw egg in which you crack on top of the boiling soup when brought over to you. It looks spicy but it’s not! There is some flavor there but it tastes kind of bland.
While the ramen was disappointing (and that’s what I came for), I liked the fries and wouldn’t mind ordering it again. The rest of their menu has other items such as bulgogi tacos and quesadilla, which I am tempted to try. So if I do come back here, it’ll be for the Asian-Mexican fusion dishes and not the ramen!!
Rancho is slowly improving!
