Happy April Fool’s Day!! Ready to get bbul with me?! Let’s eat some bull meat together! JK.. I feel like seafood today so today is a seafood kind-a day for me. If you ever want to combine seafood and BBQ together, Get Bbul is one of those places in LA that will let you enjoy the two together. And better yet, the waiters and waitresses “BBQ” the seafood for you too! No work needed on your part! Just sit back, relax, enjoy some good soju and eat the sea creatures when they tell you its ready to eat. Yessss..! It’s grilled right at your table too! *gasps*
Like all Korean restaurants, your table is always greeted with a numerous amount of pickled sides and sauces for you to nibble at, dip at, and eat at.
Some of their initial table sides included pickled carrots and cucumbers, bean paste sauce and seafood-ceviche seafood salad.
And now fried calamari with drizzled kewpie mayo, lemons for the soju shots, cheesy corn, steamed egg, green/scallion pancake, salted pork, and spicy pickled radishes?
Who can ever go wrong with cheesy corn? It’s everyone’s favorite!
The fried calamari with the asian mayo was really crunchy and creamy.
medium combo includes: hag fish, big clams, small clams, live abalone, oysters, shrimps, prawns, sweet potato, white potato, vegetables, korean ramen, etc… What else am I missing? I’m sure I’m missing something..
Salted pork and spicy, soured radishes?
They place the sea creatures onto the grill for you! What wonderful service right? You can enjoy seafood BBQ without doing anything! No one has to cook! Yay! ๐ (Notice that each of the big and medium-sized clams are seasoned with butter, green onions, white onions, cilantro, diced red peppers and cheese). The small clams were one of my favorites to eat! They were very soft and juicy and lightly salted. Again, no tiny rocks so that means this place washes their shellfishes well! Good job!
I’m stirring up the seafood salad for everyone.
This seafood salad tasted almost exactly like a Mexican ceviche, but Korean-style. Very light and refreshing. Full of raw shrimps and scallops.
This is a close-up of one of the big clams! We accidentally let it overcook so the cheese was completely dry and the seasoning was stuck to the shell. ๐
That’s what I forgot from earlier.. there are also mussels!! ๐ All of their shellfish are lightly seasoned. As each one is cooked, your waiter will take it off and place it on your plate for you. That means it’s ready to eat! Beware of the hotness!
This is the close-up of the hag fish. It didn’t taste like anything, but was rubbery and chewy to eat.
Now they’re grilling fresh oysters inside that tinfoil, boiling up some spicy seafood soup, and you can’t call it a complete Korean meal without some of their noodles and fish cakes in spicy sauce! The oysters were cleaned well (there were no rocks inside). The Korean spicy sauce was just lightly spicy (beware, don’t let it cook for too long because the noodles get really soft)! The tinfoil in the middle is full of enoki mushrooms, mini shrimps, cabbage, and scallops.
It isn’t included with the combo, but you have the option for some scallion noodle soup at the end if you want to order it! We were full but decided some hot noodle soup would be a good ending to all that seafood BBQ! (Plus I just wanted to order it for a picture to complete my food documentary.. hehe ;)) The noodle soup was lightly salted and the forever noodles were really long and soft!
Right below is my Youtube video.. Feel free to take a peek at it if you have time or bored enough to! Haha! If you need a place to eat out at tonight with your friends, I highly suggest Get Bbul in LA tonight! <3 AND COME WITH A BIG GROUP TOO! It’s more fun that way and you can order more! ๐
