Good morning good morning! If you ever crave a DELICIOUS, mouth-watery fried chicken sandwich or a handful of fun, cute and tasty donuts, you have to stop by Birdies in DTLA! Here, you will find delicious treats for all ages! The kids enjoy the prettily-decorated donuts while the adults can “wake up” from a complimentary cup of coffee with #Yelp check-in! I actually stumbled upon this place by accident, just by chance, just cause.. we managed to find parking nearby and walked it over. You know, the most delicious and enjoyable food is when you don’t plan it? It just happens? You take a stroll down Los Angeles, thought the name of the cafe was cute and interesting and decided to stick your head in.. Yummm..

There are so many pretty donuts!! It was hard to decide which one I wanted! I mean, I couldn’t eat ALL of them :O Then I would really get fat.. While I was eating here, there were a lot of families that came in: kids (and adults with a young heart) awe over the pretty donuts and parents who order themselves a mouth-and-stomach fulfilling chicken sandwich.

Middle donuts with the white-cream coating and green speckles on top? Those are pistachio donuts and I hear those are a top favorite from customers. I didn’t choose the pistachio though because I wanted pretty donuts..

Hence, the rock donut and the rainbow donut!

The rainbow donut was coated in a sugary-cream coat, topped with whipped cream to represent the clouds and you got your rainbow colors of sprinkles! All of their donuts here are “cake donuts,” with a more firm and chewy texture. The sprinkles add an extra zing! to the sweetness level and the whipped cream felt fluffy in my mouth.

The rock donut looked so pretty and cool! We grabbed one of the last ones left. 😀 It was coated in color-dyed pink and purple sugar coat with hints of sugar rocks within. Attached to the donut is a rock crystal candy and it STICKS! I lifted up the donut by the rock crystal itself and it didn’t fall apart! But the sweet donuts were only half the story here. Surprisingly, their fried chicken sandwiches were THE BOMB! It was actually the MOST delicious fried chicken sandwich I have ever tried (You can quit Burger King and McDonald’s fried chicken sandwiches).

Here we have one of Birdies‘ signature sandwiches: the Birdies Spicy, a fried chicken breast sandwich filled with cole slaw, ghost pepper mayonnaise, Tillamook Pepperjack and cures pickles.

Here is it sliced perfectly in half so that you all can see the layers of delicious beauty underneath. The cole slaw is what makes this fried chicken sandwich unique from all of the other sandwiches! The fried chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. The ghost pepper mayonnaise gave it an extra moist and sauc-y tang to each bite. The cole slaw was such a refreshing break from all the heat the chicken and ghost pepper offered. This was $10 for a sandwich, but it was a BIG and TASTY sandwich!!

The next time I crave a fried chicken sandwich, this is my go-to spot (as should be yours also ;))
