I’m sorry if you’ve seen this picture too many times on Instagram already, but I’m excited to have finally tried The Loop Handcrafted Churros located in Westminster. I think a good number of you tried pretty #churros in LA too?! One of the dessert hypes that have been going around is handcrafted churros with dips, glazes and toppings. What better way to transform an already deliciously sweet simple churro? I didn’t even know Westminster had these churros! I stumbled upon The Loop by accident yesterday after eating Vietnamese food.
The Loop handcrafts their churros in which their two ends meet at a corner that serves as the base of the dessert. From there, you can order their simple churro with a sweet dip, or a glazed churro, or a chilled churro with milk ice cream, or a glazed churro with milk ice cream, or a “special” churro!! There are SO many options!!
When you first walk in, there is a selfie picture kiosk to your left where you can take selfies and Facebook or text to yourself! Thought that was a fun thing to do at the entrance while waiting in the insanely long line for your dessert!
I chose the glazed Choco Crunch (chocolate glaze and almonds) churro on top of a chilled Double Butter milk ice cream with cookie butter syrup, peanut butter cups and a biscoff cookie. Everything about this glazed and chilled churro was perfect! The milk ice cream was very smooth, creamy and milky. It was absolutely refreshing and lightly sweet to perfectly complement the hot and crispy churro. The churro was chewy on the inside while perfectly crunchy on the outside. You can tell there is a light layer of cinnamon sprinkles underneath the chocolate and almond glaze. The cookie butter syrup immediately solidified upon contact with the ice cream and gave it that extra creamy sugar kick to the light milk ice cream. This was absolutely delicious! Even with an already full tummy, I was able to stuff myself with this dessert. And it was worth it 🙂
I lucked out so much during this visit! Not only did I hit this spot on a slower afternoon on Monday, but I got the last churro from their current batch. I heard the guy telling someone inside that I got the last churro and their next batch will be ready in 20 minutes ish. Whew! I hate having to wait for my dessert! (Or anything for that matter hehe). Normally this place is PACKED at nights and especially on weekends! There will always, always be a long line way outside the place. There were even line formations already in place when I went! So can you imagine? Glad I didn’t go during peak hour.
Oh and of course, there are two infamous walls for the perfect backdrop to an “instagrammable” picture! I definitely was blessed to have both walls to myself for picture taking. #noshame 🙂
