BYO stands for build your own… hot pot! 😱 This concept was bound to make its way to hot pot sooner or later! We already have this idea with Chipotle’s burrito and all the deli sandwiches and poke bowls.. now let’s get to pick our toppings for hot pot in the cafeteria assembly style. Earth Kitchen has just opened up in Alhambra and it is HOT! I highly anticipate a hot commodity out of this place!! I mean this is going to be my new forever go-to hot pot place!! Why?!?! Well let me list the many reasons..
So first off you get to pick which combination of toppings you want as your choice. Let’s go with what I did and I chose Build Your Own, which includes 4 veggies and 3 meats/seafood.
Don’t forget to check-in on Yelp to get an extra free topping of your choice (yes, it can be a meat/seafood).
Here is the first half of the veggies!! As you can see, there are already a lot of awesome toppings.
This is the second half of the veggies. Yes, quail eggs count as a veggie. SCORE!! I definitely chose quail eggs, including enoki mushrooms, bean curd skins and pumpkin.
Here are our meats and seafood. I helped myself to pork’s blood, lamb, beef sirloin and fish egg balls.
Here’s a closeup of my toppings. They’re so generous!
Yes, Earth Kitchen, you are my new hot pot love..
And our three carb options are vermicelli noodles, rice noodles and potato noodles. Or rice..
This area is like a fast food court cafe arrangement so you are given a number and choose wherever you want to sit. They’re. Bring you your hot pot soon! Each table has self-serve chopsticks and soup spoons. (If you can’t use chopsticks, they have forks by the water).
Self-serve to-go containers and three different sizes that are microwave safe and takeout bags! I like this attention to detail and good quality of materials used. The bags are thick!
I chose medium spicy but it wasn’t spicy at all!! Otherwise, this was soooo good! Even more so because I got to choose every single ingredient!!
Oh and we can’t forget the self-help sauces! There are sesame oil, satay sauce, soybean paste, and chili sauce.
I like their to-go bags 🙂
If you haven’t tried this place yet then I highly suggest giving this place a shot! For $11.99, this hot pot is definitely a steal in terms of quality and quantity and price and ambience! Not to mention, all the workers are friendly and nice!
What perfect timing for the cold weather creeping up on us hehe 🙂 (oh, and they have alcohol too….)
