Good morning!!!! So the second day of Chiang Mai was filled with more adventure than food. I booked a combo adventure for my friends and I which included a full day of zip-lining through the Mae Taeng Valley and Thai Jungle, ATV riding through the Mae Tang village and white water rafting down the Mae Tang river!!
With an early start and a big day ahead, a food breakfast is always the perfect start! Thank you to the awesome Empress hotel we’re staying at, we were blessed with a delicious morning buffet everyday.
This is the beginning and layout of the breakfast restaurant of our hotel. This is VIP section but the rest is still good!
This is my breakfast plate! They had an omelette station too!! I haven’t had an omelette from an omelette station since UCLA! I got the ham, mushroom, tomato, onion and cheese omelette. There was also over easy eggs, thai ham, fried rice, French toast and Panang curry over white rice.
So off to our adventure!! I apologize for not having any zooming pictures. I was too scared to bring my phone along and now regretted it because the zip line adventure was very fun and very beautiful! It was just a lush forest and jungle all around. In addition to zip lining from station to station, we had to walk through unsteady man made bridges, climb up ladders and rappel down ropes!
We had the occasional break where they served us water, watermelon, delicious crackers with a cream cheese filling, pineapple flower crackers and bananas!
Look at the scenery from base camp!
After our zip lining adventure, we did ATV riding!! It was a bit scary at first and I definitely needed some practice with turning and shifting gears, but it was oh so fun!!! Oh also, my right thumb hurts now from pressing on the gas switch so much.. haha
In between ATV riding and white water rafting, we had lunch!!!!
We had fried chicken tenders, white rice and salad!
We also had coconut milk soup with chicken and tofu!
After white water rafting (pictures to be posted later after I upload from the USB), we went to one of the night markets in a Chiang Mai to eat at an outside sit-down restaurant.
This is the best milk tea I have ever had in Thailand so far and it’s not just because of the pretty flower decoration! It was freshly brewed tea and you can tell because there are some tea “pulp” specks inside the tea floating around. Sweet and creamy. You know they used condensed milk!
These chicken skewers were drenched in a sesame oil peanut-y sauce.
I feel like you can never go wrong with chicken pad see ew!
Some roasted duck over rice! (Don’t ask me why these guys also like to eat Chinese food in Thailand) -.-
And finally what Chiang Mai is known for… khao soi gai!!! Also known as chicken curry noodle soup in English! This bowl was delicious with egg noodles in a light and creamy curry broth.
Tomorrow is the last day I have in Thailand before the return to America. I must admit that for once, this vacation makes me miss home. I just want to go home and hug my mommy and thank her for giving me a life in America.
I love you mommy!!
