The teapot plaza by my house is still mostly empty, but the restaurants and bakeries that ARE open are all popping and busy!!! How convenient to have it just a block down from my house. Totally walkable and so darn close. 🙂
Summer Rolls is one of my new favorites in that teapot plaza! It features vietnamese cuisine and a selections of beers on tap. The atmosphere is casual and friendly and open. There is even a small outdoor seating area that’s part of the plaza right out front. Super convenient to order takeout and eat there if there’s no room! Weekend nights can quickly fill the place up.
They have a small yet diverse selection of vietnamese cuisine. All of their vegetables and fresh produce is extremely fresh!
charbroiled pork nem spring rolls. These spring rolls are SUPER fresh and very crunchy. There is a lot of fresh crunchiness going on in there and I love it! The pork is hot and juicy. The fresh produce inside is cold and FRESH. The contrast is great! Their sauce is the typical mysterious gooey red sauce that I keep asking my parents if they know how to make it and they don’t. It’s a restaurant secret recipe that no one I know knows!!! I loveeee it.
banh beo. One of my favorite appetizers. Extremely easy to make. It’s just a hassle! It’s basically steamed rice cake topped with grated shrimp, extremely oiled fried bread (like croutons) and fishly pickled onions! Now use the spoon, put some fish sauce on top and scoop it out!
banh hoi. This is basically (if you look closely) woven tiny rice vermicelli and shrimp egg rolls with pork nem. Another variation of the same toppings!
charbroiled beef nem on vermicelli. This is my mommy’s favorite vietnamese dish. It’s cold dry vermicelli noodles topped with a variety of toppings: your choice of protein, lettuce, fried shrimp egg rolls, pickled carrots and minced peanuts. Now pour some spicy fish sauce and mix it all up! It’s like a fish yet refreshing vietnamese salad. Ha!
bun bo hue. One of my favorite vietnamese noodle soups. It’s spicy beef noodle soup with a variety of beef and pork meats, including my favorite pork’s blood!!! It’s not as popular as pho outside of the Vietnamese population, but it should be!
Ever since I walked to this plaza and ate here, I’ve gone again soon after. How convenient to live so close to a plaza with yummy offerings! It makes it highly convenient!
