Good morning to the first day of free exploring and meandering in Tokyo without any long traveling! By now I think I’ve mastered their train system.. so the brilliant thing about ramen restaurants being open 24/7 in the Shibuya district is that it allows my jet lag self to eat at a famous and over hyped place without any wait. YES, let’s go eat at IchirAn Shibuya with NO wait.
The shibuya district is a crazy party district, hence all of the 24/7 restaurants that cater to these party people. For the first time, I see trash everywhere and drunk people.
Every restaurant downstairs is good food I say. That concept has yet to fail me.
Ichiran in Shibuya.
After ordering rom the vending machine, you have an option to personalize the features of your ramen.
You can move the side panels to opt for privacy or talk to your date. I really like the ambience of this restaurant. It’s really set up so that you enjoy and focus on your food. That is what it is all about. You came to eat good food! Not socialize!
In the corner, there are cups at the top where you get and self-help yourself to cold water. I like this system at restaurants! It’s very efficient!
When they served me my ramen, they also lowered down the bamboo blinds in the front to allow more privacy from the waiters.
Finally!!!!!!!
Extra chasu pork and seaweed on the side.
This is the inside of my yolky egg.
This ramen was hands down the best ramen I have eaten so far in Japan. It does live up to its hype and even more so because I didn’t have to wait! From the reviews, it looks like to be at least an hour wait during peak hours but I went at 7am so no wait. Just some early business people and drunk people.
We went to meander to their version of our Starbucks, which is called Doutor. I’ve seen it EVERYWHERE. So let’s try it!
I also like their coffee concept here with serving and cleaning up on yourself. All coffee is served on a small tray. When you are done, bring your tray up and also throw away any trash below. This gives the waiters an easier time.
Soy latte for the boyfriend.
Sakura white chocolate latte for me.
Both lattes were very creamy and sweet. Each latte was about 300yen so pretty cheap compared to your average Starbucks nowadays.
Revolving sushi bar:
There are green tea bags in a container at every part of the bar. Put a teabag into your cup and self-help yourself to hot water here.
Each plate was 130yen. Some are 200 and 250yen. So cheap! My whole sushi meal with 8 plates was just $12 USD. Sushi was pretty good too!
We meandered to a nicer coffeee place to rewind and sit down. I discovered something new I liked.
Mocha latte.
This is called coffee jelly. It’s basically black coffee in jelly form with vanilla soft serve on top. This was SOOOO GOOD!!! Deliciously good. The ice cream itself was so sweet and creamy. The coffee jelly was good.
I meandered to a cheap curry place.
This simple pork cutlet curry was just 680yen!!!!
Last ramen stop was smallllllll! There were only 5 seats!!!!
But you can get up and personal with the chef and cooking if you know japanese.
I don’t know what kind of ramen place this was but it was soooo different. I’m not sure what flavor I was eating. It was good! But not what I’m used to.
Got some gifts for the moms. Hehehehehehehe
My boyfriend even got me a small snack from the patisserie shop.
The packaging was made of very expensive paper.
This was a light pastry. The inside is composed of red bean blended with some kind of jelly or something chewy. With mochi!!! His English was very poor so it was hard to understand him
But it was sooooooooo good. It tasted very light, delicate, chewy and mildly sweet. I can’t wait to hover over the other dessert gifts for the moms and try them also!
And I went to the Pokémon store!
