Just earlier, I took my mommy on a #dineLA lunch date to Morton’s The Steakhouse in DTLA. This was both of our first time to this steakhouse. The drive to the steakhouse was slightly confusing only in that I am super Asian and want to find the cheapest parking deal possible!! So it turns out that this Morton’s is located in a shopping plaza that shares a parking lot called FigAt7th that is INSANELY expensive, but a lot cheaper with validation. The restaurant itself is very beautifully decorated and in the most upscale way possible for a steakhouse. All of the hosts, waiters, busboys were very friendly, polite and respectful. The service was attentive and fast. The food Delish.
For dineLA lunch, for $25pp, you get… the following..
Oh wait let me talk about the table setting first!! It isn’t anything too special or unique, but I can always appreciate the unity and simplicity of it.
I personally really enjoyed looking at this little piglet that looks like it is dying..? or crying.. or sad… or sleeping while there is a “light burning upon its tummy.”
This bread totally steals the show! I have read about the Yelp ravings of this complimentary bread, but it is SO MUCH BETTER than it looks. Sure, on the outside it looks like a simple, oval bread with plain butter, but it is much more than that…
This egg onion bread is the most unique bread I have ever tasted in all of America, Canada, Europe.. (Of course I need to expand my horizons to make this comparison have more weight, but as far as all the places I HAVE gone to..)
Wait, look at my mom already pre-enjoying her bread. How can one not love bread and butter? It is so simple yet so delicious.
But back to the bread.. This egg onion bread is the most softest, flakiest and airy bread I have ever eaten while still maintaining its thin crispiness and flakiness without being overwhelmed with the butter load that normally croissants do. The outside crust is just like crumbling snowflakes while you tear into it.. while you bite into it.. while you chew into it.. NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE! Everyone must come to eat their bread!!!!
Cup of Lobster Bisque. For an additional $3 to the $25pp prix fixe lunch menu, you can upgrade to the lobster bisque soup. This is totally worth it and barely a few more bucks on the deal you’re getting. Each cup of soup gets a large chunk of lobster claw meat in addition to smaller lobster tidbits. The soup is extremely creamy and savory.
Grilled 9oz Ribeye Steak with Garlic Butter and Mashed Potatoes. For $25 alone, this entree option alone is already more than worth it let alone also having an appetizer/salad and a dessert to top it off. My mother and I both chose medium-rare for our meat, which I think is the most favorable option for any steak lover. The ribeye steak was extremely tender, soft, and chewy with flaky pieces of meat that was easily sliced off with the steak knife. You get the juices that flow out and the redness of the medium-rare meat. The mashed potatoes were lightly buttered and topped with some chives.
Here is another view..
LOOK AT THIS JUICY GOODNESS.
We both only ate 1/3 to 1/2 of our steak.. The heaviness of all the fat and protein was just too much for what my mommy and I were used to since we eat a much cleaner and healthier diet. We boxed the rest of our steaks and bread to go.. And to finish it off, we topped off our meal with a double chocolate mousse. With a tease of whipped cream on top and a pretty raspberry. The mousse was a rich chocolate that was very refreshing after all the heavy steak eating we did. All in all, my mother and I enjoyed the restaurant a lot. My mother even more! I love you mommy 🙂
Stay tuned for more dineLA adventures as I try to stack it up to make up for the lack of eating these past 2 months. Muwahhaha 🙂
