My first class ended early and I unexpectedly had a 2 hour break in between classes. “Hey! Wanna grab lunch somewhere real quick in DTLA? There’s still #dineLA going on!” π Thankfully, one of my classmates was down so we went! It was a short frenzy while we were escaping the classroom and walking down the hallway while trying to figure out where to go eat at real quick. Let’s just go to Harbor House since they have a $15 lunch menu and crab cakes sound good! So for $15, my classmate ordered the lemongrass beef salad and the pan roasted salmon and I ordered the crab cakes and all natural flat iron.
So it only took us 17min to get to Harbor House. We parked at FigAt7th because the parking rates there are most cheap! Just buy something at Target (inside the same plaza) to get validation and you get $1 for the first hour and $2.50 for the second hour. Then walk across the street. Easy! This is my new go-to parking spot in that area of DTLA now..
It was hot but not TOO hot to enjoy the outside patio area. With shade from the umbrellas, we were able to have a relaxing lunch with the light occasional breezes that flew through. This was the most fun Tuesday school day we have ever had! And also will be the last chance we get because next Tuesday is already our last final for FOREVER.
Pretty flowers in pretty pot.
Lemongrass Beef Salad. Red cabbage, gem lettuce, carrot, mint, basil, roasted cashews, roasted tomatoes, fried shallots, vietnamese chile garlic vinaigrette. Very refreshing salad and beef was flavorful.
Crab Cakes. Maryland style, old bay aioli. These are like crab cake bites. lol I was surprised they were not too dry. It was good!
I spy crab inside π
Pan Roasted Salmon. Salsify, summer squash and corn succotash, sugar snap peas, espellette, red chili, conserva, tumeric garlic cream. The salmon was a popular order from many guests, according to our waiter. It was very tender and moist. The turmeric garlic cream sauce was what made the dish! It was delicious with a spicy kick!
All Natural Flat Iron. Garlic soy marinated steak, watercress, slow roasted tomato, charred petit onions, buttered rice, citrus chili garlic sauce. I was disappointed in the flat iron steak. I thought it would be in one huge piece instead of in smaller pieces on top of rice. Reminds me of a typical Asian dish. The chili garlic sauce that came with the dish (which I poured over the rice) reminds me of a Vietnamese dish..
Definitely a good place overall which a relaxing ambiance, but not as good as yesterday’s lobster run! π
While my classmate shopped at Target for validation, I dropped by Sprinkles, which is located in the same plaza. It was just so convenient that Sprinkles was RIGHT THERE so even though I was full, the foodie in me had to get a bite..
Mini Red Velvet cupcake. Yummmmm. Need I say more? π I was happy coming back to class but the sweet excitement was quickly over..
