Born & Raised (BAR) is a 2-story modern steakhouse that provides two different dining options: a beautiful open-air bar and cushioned booths overlooking Little Italy and a more romantic dimmed ambiance downstairs featuring leather booths, marbled table tops and faux animal fur accessories. The steakhouse has a large variety in price ranges; from the more economy $17 steak burger to the $69 bone-in ribeye to the $19/oz Japanese wagyu. Wowww, that’s a load of a difference price range, this suitable for every type of wallet.
My boyfriend wanted to take me here for our dinner date! We haven’t went somewhere where it was just us two in a long while and he promised me he would show me this steakhouse. We made reservations 2 weeks in advance for 1715 and requested the upstairs outdoor seating area.
The perks to coming to a restaurant very early in the evening is that you will most likely be the first ones to arrive, which means I can take pictures of the ambiance without people being in the way! No offense 🙂
Even though it was so sunny and quite hot, we enjoyed our time at the open bar seating area. Our hostess would find us later to get us ready for our seats. We got the best location upstairs I feel like! The corner and round cushioned seating to overlook the entire place, which allowed the ease to people watch.
Notice some of the faux fur accessories on some of the chairs. And the chairs themselves! I am so impressed and in love with the accessories and decor of this entire restaurant.
There are also blinds that eventually fold down on the side to provide more shade and coolness to the diners seated at this edge.
And here is the open bar upstairs! Can you spot my boyfriend? 😉
Whiskey Smash. Buffalo trace bourbon, muddled lemon and mint, brown sugar, peach tincture, sliced butters. This is the first drink that my boyfriend got while we were waiting to be seated. It reminds me of the whiskey bourbon but more sweet and tolerable for my weak taste buds.
Malbec. Altocedro, “Ano Cedro,” La Consulta, Mendoza, 2015. This is my glass of red wine for $13. It was actually really good!!!! It was only a tiny bit dry and very smooth. Perfect for my wagyu later.
Here is a picture of us! I really really enjoyed our corner booth because we had an awesome time people watching everyone at the bar and at other tables. We also got to watch in on some free shows!
Japanese A5 Wagyu 3oz. $19/oz. This came in 6 small slices that is very buttery, very fatty and very soft. The other sides of the wagyu was more crispy and appeared more seated for some crunchy. The wagyu also came with a tincture of salt to sprinkle on top of the wagyu. It’s meant to enhance the flavors but I felt like I didn’t need it given the fact that I already eat a low-salt diet at home. It was very savory and full of flavor for me already!
24oz Bone-in Ribeye. Dry-Aged. This is my boyfriend’s dry-aged ribeye, which was like a 1inch thick slab of meat. It was so fatty and so juicy with each cut. There was so much flavor that gushes out in your mouth with each bite and chew. The meat was very tender and cooked perfectly medium-rare.
Robuchon Potato. Butter and butter. This is the most creamiest and buttery and smoothest mashed potatoes I have ever had. I am absolutely in love with this potato. And look at the name. This is Joel Robuchon’s potato recipe!!!!! If you guys don’t already know, he is a Michelin Star Chef And has a restaurant in Vegas!!!!?
Look at how fluffy and creamy it is!!!!!!
Coal-Roasted Leeks. Goat cheese, hazelnuts, grapes. The boyfriend wanted some veggies so we got some leeks. I was never a big fan of leeks but they seem like onions to me. The goat cheese was a nice touch.
Halfway through our meal, we were like “how come we didn’t order the Caesar salad instead?” A table near us ordered the Caesar salad tableside so a waiter brought over a rolling cart of the Caesar ingredients and prepared the Caesar salad in front of them. Even though I was already so fascinated with the free Caesar show I got, I found out later that they also teach you the history of Caesar salad and the ingredients. What!!! I didn’t get to listen in because I was too far to hear. But the original Caesar salad is made with some Tabasco sauce for the dressing and also has a piece of white anchovy to top off. What!!!!! HOW DARE YOU BOYFRIEND ROB ME THE EXPERIENCE OF A CAESAR SALAD SHOW?!?!
Grasshopper. Creme de Cacao, Creme de Menthe, vsop cognac, vanilla cream. For dessert, we shared a dessert cocktail, which was very milky, sweet and minty. During our enjoyment, we got to enjoy some more tablesude shows from other people!!! There’s the filet mignon show, the steak tartare show… this place offers a few tableside services depending on what your order. Cool huh?!
Now let’s see what’s even more cool…
ARE THE RESTROOMS!!!
Each restroom has its own toilet and sink. Each toilet has a unique saying on the toilet seat itself.
This one says “Sit on my face.” I LOVE how classy this restaurant is, but it can still get away with the vulgar saying for the contrast. How great is that?! So brilliant!!!
Now boyfriend, next time you take me here I want a Caesar salad show!
