Good morning to the second day of Denver! I feel like we ate less food today but we did do slightly more stuff such as getting rained out at the Rocky Mountains during a hike. But I’ve never heard thunder so close up and personal before. It was exhilarating!
We checked out The West End Tavern in Boulder CO at the end of Rocky Mountains. The drinks were good and the food was good. Mind you I didn’t eat everything this time but I felt like taking pictures of other people’s food just cause.
Buffalo classic chicken wings. Free with Yelp check in! Almost all of us got free chicken wings!!? The wings tasted even better and crispier when they’re free.
French Mojito. New Amsterdam vodka, mint, lime, strawberry purée, bubbles. I had to ask my waitress to add extra strawberry puree for the sake of my tongue taste buds.
Smoked Rocky Mountain Prime Brisket. Bread & butter pickles, red onion, aioli, buttered sourdough toast.
Spinach salad. Pork belly, pickled cherries, red onion, blue cheese, smoked pecans, charred onion vinaigrette.
NY Strip. Spring onion and potato hash, creamed spinach, house steak sauce. The potato tots were AMAZING and thick.
Smoky tomato soup. Cheddar toast. This was my small order. It smelled smoky and extremely thick and creamy. I loved the soup and the cheese toast even more!
Picnic eggs. Honey cured bacon, scallions, house hot sauce. These weren’t so good. Not used to sour deviled eggs?
Chicken & waffle. Spicy honey, sausage gravy. This was AMAZING and only $4 off the happy hour menu! Chicken was crisp and flavorful and the sweet honey and the thick sausage gravy and that spicy kick.
Blackened shrimp po’ boy. Pickles, shredded lettuce, tomato, spicy tartar sauce.
Pulled pork slider. Slow, Carolina gold bbq. This was good but so massive for just $4!!!
At night, we started our bar hop at Dead Batter Bar. I really liked it! The drinks were good, the bartenders were cool.
Lithium. Rye, Cafe Amaro, orange bitters, Demerara syrup, rum-burnt coffee beans. My boyfriend’s drink. The bartender is about to drop the rum roasting coffee beans into his drink.
Need Juice. Rose, apricot brandy, chai tea, strawberry, apple, citrus, honey. My very seemingly healthy drink which tasted like fruit punch and packed with fruits.
Spanish Jamon and Manchego cheese and 2 spinach, artichoke, cheve. Build a board of 3 fresh baked buns. The Spanish ham and cheese white bun was delicious and creamy and cheesy.
Baileys, espresso, vodka, cafe amaro. Off menu. My boyfriend expressed that he wanted something more creamy and more sweet compared to the first drink and the bartender delivered perfecto. We all had a taste of his and it was soooo good that we ordered more for ourselves!
Composed board of vegetables, miso eggs, nuts, seeds, veggie cream cheese smear, house crackers. This veggie board is out of this world! My favorite vegetable was the small shriveled peppers and the spread.
The girls then diverged to another bar called Carbon Cafe & Bar while the boys went to a brewery.
Espresso martini. This was delicious. The entire time, this drink maintained its head of foam so that every time you took a sip, you get two layers of foam and espresso alcohol.
