Wow! So let’s just say our first 2 hours of New Orleans was a little rough but only because of the airport traffic. The security closed off the entrance and road for the uber and lyfts to get to the pick-up stop so it took us an hour to get out of the airport! Finally, we checked into our hotel and went to grab some dinner at Seither’s Seafood.
Now even more bad news.. it’s off season for crawfish and oysters so there are NO crawfishes and oysters!!! The kind waitress told us in the kindest yet most blunt way possible that if we were to eat crawfish here it’ll be Asian crawfish or frozen crawfish.. and don’t even try to eat the raw oysters here because it won’t be good…
My boyfriend and I became very sad… but our evening still turned around and we will try to not let it ruined our weekend! It is our one year anniversary after all!
On a brighter note, I love the decor and ambience and people of this restaurant! It has a homey feel to it. The people are amazing. They are friendly and outgoing and friendly. You can tell a lot of locals come here.
Look how cute!
This is the entrance.
See this little crawfish saying hi and teasing us.
1lb local head-on boiled shrimp with corn and potato. But you know what? The shrimp was BOMB. The seasoning and flavors of the boil was sooooooo good! First off, there was a slight kick. It looks plain and not saucy but trust me, there is a pack full of flavors in this!!!!!! My boyfriend instantly became happy again which is good.
At first, I wish they laid out paper like the restaurants do in LA, but they provided big plastic platters to eat over. This kept everything relatively clean!
Off-menu chargrilled oysters with some kind of cheese, garlic, butter.. it was amazingly good. I was glad they gave us bread because I totally used it to wipe the oysters shell clean of the buttery goodness.
Shrimp and corn bisque. Local shrimp and corn in a creamy bisque. This was so good!!!! I’ve never had a bisque soup that was not lobster.
Gumbo. Gumbo of the day with fresh local ingredients, served with white rice. Before today, the only gumbo I’ve ever tried was at the UCLA dorm. Granted, UCLA has very good dorm food, but it’s not the same. This was so good! Filled with flavors, spices, savory sausage and meat. The rice was soft.
Hopefully tomorrow is better and better 🙂 will not let the lack of fresh crawfish and oyster ruin it for me! This just gives me an excuse to have to come back! 🙂
