The first few hours in Chicago was a bit tough. Prior to boarding, they ran out of overhead bin space for the rest of our carry-on so the remainder of us had to check our bags in at the gate. I waited for 1.5hr at the baggage claim for my luggage. There was a delay because of the thunderstorms and lightning so the workers couldn’t be outside to move our luggage in!
But our night quickly turned around. Our kind Airbnb hosts called me and offered to pick us up from Jefferson Park (fourth stop from the airport on the Blue Line) to avoid our hassle of transfers when it’s already late at night. (We landed at 8pm Chicago time). That was so sweet of them! They turned out to be really nice and cool!
By the time we got to the Airbnb, it was already past 10pm so we decided to order some pizza delivery from Giordano’s, which is the pizza place down the street that our Airbnb hosts recommended. Checking yelp, it seems that Giordano’s May be the fast food deep dish of Chicago like Pizza Hut is to us.
Pizza came in an hour!
We ordered the individual size deep dish pizza with mushroom and pepperoni. This was my first time eating deep dish! At first I was like, “Where are all the toppings?!” Turns out, the toppings are inside as a different layer.
Whoa!!!! So cheesyyyyy.
I enjoyed my first deep dish so far but I am hungry to go to the more popular places and see what the hype was about! The weekend is still very young 🙂 I am excited for this weekend to start!
