Happy belated birthday to my mommy again! It was yesterday and I wanted to just recap because I had so much fun, but most importantly, I think my mommy had the most fun! My boyfriend, his mom and auntie came up to visit her for her birthday! Thank you again for coming up the two hours; it was really sweet!
Through my sister’s suggestion, we tried a new KBBQ place that just opened up last week and apparently is co-owned with HoBo’s KBBQ in Las Vegas (my sister is a fan of). I didn’t even know what to expect nor did much research. I just trusted the word by mouth. Let’s try something new! I’m always down for that. It’s called TK92 KBBQ.
The first thing you see when you walk in is an glass encase of dry-aged beef. Lots of them!! This was what we were going to eat.. I’ve had dry aged before at steak houses, but never at a KBBQ before!
Here is a popcorn maker in the waiting area that you can help yourself to.
The waiting area had arcade games that you can play for free while you wait. One of them is PAC MAN, childhood favorite. Otherwise, it was a really thoughtful and fun idea, especially for kids.
You can call ahead of time to make reservations, or just come at an odd hour when there is no one. We came with a party of 6. The spread of sweet potato salad, radishes and kimche. There is also spicy mustard, wasabi and pink Himalayan salt as condiments. Also some salad with sesame dressing and radishes and bean sprouts. Each person had their own plate setting, which included a wooden plate with some indents for the plate, the spoon and chopsticks, the dipping sauce and the cup of tea.
All of the sides were very good, but everyone was impressed by the kimchi. I, for one, do not like to eat kimchi, but I actually liked this kimchi. I think that says something about their kimchi. Well done!
I was in love with this salad. I, for one again, love eating salad, not for trying to be healthy, but just because I like salad. I liked their dressing! It was a light and creamy salad dressing, which some little red balls. I’m not sure, I forgot to ask the waiter what kind of salad dressing they use because it was really good!
The waiter advised us to use the pink salt for the meat. Hands down, very good advice. It was salty.
To start off, the server gave each of us a double walled small bowl with a small wooden spoon. He said this was sweet potato puree as a starter and palate cleanser. It was warm, creamy and chewy.
You get a choice of white rice or brown rice. Brown rice wasn’t really brown rice; it was like purple rice. Had a hint of sweetness to it. Very chewy too. Short-grained rice for sure!
So you can choose individual platters of meat or you can pick a combo, which would be cheaper for a group. There were 4 combos to pick from and for a party of 6, we decided on the Dry Aging Beef Combo, large size for $150, which comes with brisket & dry aging rib eye (45 days) and spicy B.L. short ribs. Each combo also comes with soybean paste soup, steamed egg, and 3 rice cracker ice cream sandwiches.
This first platter was the dry aging rib eye, which comes in a smoked platter. (I’ll post a boomerang on my instagram IG: eatingwithcookie). It looks so cool!
Here is the dry aging rib eye again, pre-cut. Our sever grilled all of the foods for us.
This is the spicy B.L. short ribs.
You can also see that we ordered a small cup of cheese to melt and dip. The combo also comes with some mushrooms, potatoes to grill with..
Here is our brisket with 4 pre-prepared rice nigiri to eat with the brisket wrapped around; an attempt of some korean-style sushi pieces..
Steamed egg.
Soybean paste soup. (We got two of each).
Everything tasted so good dipping in melted cheese. I think more for me particularly because I LOVEEEEE CHEEESE. Let me tell you, this was very good. The chunks of rib eye were cut into perfect chewing sizes. It was very well aged, seasoned, flavored. It was incredibly juicy and savory.
The server even added some mozzarella cheese on top of our rib eye. He put the chopped pieces on top of the cut potatoes so that they wouldn’t overcook.
Our table got two little tubs of cheese so I was generous with how much cheese I dipped each piece of meat in.
As part of our combo, we got to pick 3 rice cracker ice cream sandwiches. We chose mint chocolate, cookies and cream, and strawberry. The strawberry and mint chocolate came with a red bean spread. The rice crackers made the ice cream very light and airy to eat!
Happy Birthday Mommy! I love you and hoped you enjoyed your birthday! (This tiramisu was not party of the combo. I got this cake at Sunmerry Bakery).
But I love this place! I wanna come back here again when they get their liquor license and to try their wagyu combo. 😉
Oh, and the restrooms come stocked with mouth waste and toothbrushes to cleanse your mouth after all the KBBQ’ing.
