Hello New York City!!!! Boy, I didn’t think I would start off the morning landing at 7am being so tired, delirious and nauseous. Our plane flew out of LAX at 11:15pm last night and our plane just so happened to also house a school field trip of 35 Jewish boys. I thought it would be fun to people watch them but it wasn’t.. They were insanely loud and crazy the entire 5hr red eye flight and didn’t let anyone sleep despite the flight attendant trying to shoosh them all night long.
Not only that, but after take off, I became airsick the entire ride! I felt nauseous and sick and felt like I had GERD!!!! I kept dry heaving. It was awful. And I couldn’t sleep because the boys were so loud…
After we landed, we took a Lyft to our Wyndham timeshare hotel provided by Dr. JoAnn. Thank you again for inviting my mom and me to this trip with you ๐ I really appreciate it! You are the best!
We dropped off our carryon bags and walked to a nearby Shanghai restaurant to eat a little breakfast.. just to have something in our stomachs.
We went to Yaso Tangbao. It had various noodle soups and steamed dumplings but since it was breakfast, it only had breakfast items. It was pretty good though! Kind of pricey though..
Pork Joaozi soup. That is the circular small container on the far right near the corner below the noodle soup. It had a good amount of 8-10 pork dumplings in a soup broth that is layered with sesame oil. Very good and lightly savory without being too salty.
Clear chicken broth noodle soup. I was informed that this was very bland and had no flavor. There was also no protein in it. Just simple noodles and broth.
Steamed pork baos. These were pretty good! There is also some pork soup inside the bun so you have to be careful when you bite into it because the soup can gush out! The pork was very flavorful and juicy. I loved it actually!
Egg scallion pancake roll with shredded pork. This was pretty decent. It was an egg scallion pancake roll that is rolled up with a layer of cooked eggs and shredded pork. Very easy to eat!
Sweet soy milk soup. This was my favorite lol but only because I LOVE fresh hot and sweetened soy milk since I were a child. It’s a comforting and warm drink to indulge in. Definitely helped me recover from the awful flight.

Steamed pork baos.
Then we walked to the New York Public Library to check it out, skim some books and learn about some history. This library is beyond nice. It’s layout is made to be like a museum! So grand and nice!
Can you spot me pretending to read a book? Lol I know I am so lame…
I wasn’t really looking for a book. Just posing but at least I admit it!
Afterwards, we walked to Bryant Park to work out an appetite for Burger & Lobster.
Burger & Lobster entrance.
The decor is to mimic a lobster tank and it’s habitat.
So pretty!
Lobster bites – fresh lobster and shrimp wrapped in a pastry shell with cheese and pickles. 4 small bites. I wasn’t sure what to make of it. It was interesting but I was confused. Is this supposed to resemble a Vietnamese egg roll? The lobster and shrimp… it didn’t really complement each other well but I appreciated the whole chunks of lobster!
Combo for 1 – A 6oz burger and a whole 1lb lobster with fries and salad. We see other people order this combo for just themselves to eat. My mom and I were like, nuh uh, were gonna share! We ordered medium rare for the burger and grilled for the lobster. Surprisingly, I really liked the burger! The bun was crispy and bronze with sesame seeds on top. The beef patty was perfectly rare with juices gushing out with each bite. The pickles were lovely.
However, I didn’t seem to appreciate the lobster as much. I expected more. I think it may have been a tad over cooked. BUT the buttery hollandaise sauce that came with the lobster to dip in was very good!
Lobster Mac n cheese. This was just okay. For $14, they gave enough lobster chunks but the quality and cheesiness of the Mac n cheese wasn’t quite there. It just wasn’t great. Disappointed.
Let’s get some dessert next! I picked Bibble & Sip for its many reviews.
Bibble & Sip Bakery Cafe.
Hot Valrhona chocolate – dark/milk ganache with steamed milk. Deliciously creamy and rich in chocolate.
Matcha Jasmine latte – matcha tea and steamed milk with Jasmine syrup. An interested mixture of matcha and jasmine aromas.
Lavender latte – espresso and steamed milk with lavender syrup. Always gotta love lavender for coffee!
Matcha, black sesame and cookies & cream puffs. They’re known for the cream puffs.. they’re so big!! A lot bigger in person than what the camera gives credit for!
Yuzu fruit tart with raspberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges and Lychee. The thick crust that is sweet is what makes a good tart! There is the slight tangy and sour that you get from the yuzu.
Black sesame cream puff. The outside is just so crispy and crunchy and full of light sweet flavors. The black sesame cream is so creamy and milky and thick.
Matcha cream puff. This has even more cream inside!!!! Omg!! It was totally overflowing. So creamy and thick yet smooth. Just so good. Delicious light matcha.
Okay, so after dessert we finally walked back to our Wyndham hotel to check in. But we had to wait an extra hour until it was ready!! But as a sorry for making us wait, they gave us a bottle of red wine and a box of cheese and crackers. Yay!
Better than just a sorry! ๐
and then for dinner… in less than two blocks, there is an indoor food course called Urbanspace. It is spectacular!! The atmosphere is very lively! There were a lot of people. You can get food from multiple restaurant vendors and get together!
Here is a list of foods.
I saw Ippudo and immediately looked this place up. So Ippudo wanted to try chicken based broth and invented this concept of a take away bowl in which is paper bowl and you can just take it away if you want!
I just had to try it and I am glad I did. It was so good.
They’re presented in small paper bowls with a lid on top so you can choose to take it wherever you want to eat it. New concept for ramen bowls!
Kuro-Obi “Black Belt” – creamy chicken soup ramen with springy Zuzutto noodles, garlic oil, a dash of savory umami paste, scallions, kikurage mushrooms, and sliced marinated pork chasu. I think the picture says it all with how rich in flavor and texture and density the broth is. Not to mention the chewy, soft, thick noodles in contrast to the crunchy mushrooms. It was so savory despite being a chicken based broth.
it was so good .. I devoured it..
I can’t wait for another tomorrow of binge eating in NYC, the ultimate foodie land where all of the foods I’ve dreamed of eating for many years is possible again for the next few days.
I love you New York!
