Thank you Dr. JoAnn for inviting my mommy and I to celebrate my early birthday with your son, Nathaniel, and your family. It was so sweet of you. My mom and I had fun. The food was good. The company was great.
We went to EST. Prime Steakhouse that is located in the Sheraton Hotel in San Gabriel. For me, finding the entrance was kind of hard!! I wasn’t sure whether or not to enter the main hotel lobby first or find a separate restaurant entrance. My mom and I walked almost all around the building and completely missed the side door that did open up to the restaurant and Starbucks. I think they should have a sign right above those doors because they kind of blend in. If it’s your first time, you might get lost too!
It was a random Tuesday evening so the crowd was less. No complaints for me, I get better pictures of the interior this way!
There were a few private dining rooms for large parties. We were seated in one at the very end. This is perfect! There were two kids with us and we could be as loud and personal as we want.
I secretly like this picture. The lighting and the flowers make this picture very bright and colorful. This was my seat 🙂
These are my favorite types of daisy flowers!
Fresh baked bread with butter. The bread was very good!!! It was light and fluffy like those Hawaiian sweet breads. It was lightly sprinkled with some rock salt and served with house made butter.
For an extra $1.50, you can also get truffle butter!! Which was way more fatty than regular butter. More soft and smooth in texture.
EST Ultimate Seafood Tower. Market oysters, Maine lobster, Alaskan king crab legs, colossal prawns, yuzu and white soy cocktail sauce, burnt shishito Louie sauce, rose champagne mignonette. I’ve never had a seafood tower before. This was my first time and I must say, I felt like royalty sitting in front of this seafood tower. Everything was so fresh, so clean, so organized.. even the lobster was nearly cut into bite size pieces and placed back into the lobster shell. That is awesome!
Everyone enjoyed the yuzu and white soy cocktail sauce. We thought it was tartar sauce but it was way better than tartar sauce!!! It had a very light hint of sour flavor from the yuzu but sweet and savory from the white soy sauce.
Top layer of the seafood tower. Look at those ginormous lobsters!
Bottom level 🙂 even the prawns were good! And I always appreciate crab legs pre-sliced in halves for me.. hehe
Pacific Northwest Dungeness Crab Cakes. Shaved pickled vegetables, whole grain mustard beernaise. Everyone also loved these crab cakes! They did not skimp on the real crab meat. I liked the crunchy texture from the small seeds from the grains.
Caesar salad. Hand torn romaine, crostini, anchovy Parmesan dressing. The salad was good 🙂
How sweet of them to give complimentary glass flutes of champagne!
Mushroom ravioli. Wild mushrooms, butter ragout, kale, sage breadcrumbs. This was one of my favorites! It was sooo good!! There was a generous amount of mushrooms in the ravioli. I love the extra mushrooms outside. The butter ragout was very creamy and savory.
Wagyu fat hand cut fries. This was decently good but did not wow me. You can taste the salty flavors on the skin of the fries from the wagyu fat. The fries may be cut a bit too thick for me though. You don’t get the crunchy and crispy of the fries as is should be.
Mishima Wagyu tri-tip roast for the table with Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, sauces. This is served family style. There was a house made sauce, a sweet barbecue like sauce, and chimichurri sauce. Must I comment: the Brussels sprouts were GOOOD! Cooked in this light mustard tasting sauce with some nuts?? and the brussel sprouts used were very thin leaves.
The mashed potatoes were topped with crispy pork belly. Soft, smooth and fluffy.
The tri-tip itself was cooked medium rare and boy, was it very rare and chewy! (I think I like Dr. Han’s tomahawk steak wayyy more hands down!)
They rolled over a cart of desserts for us! 4 birthday creme brûlée’s and two extra desserts we ordered.
French vanilla ice cream with fresh berries.
Brioche bread pudding with salted caramel and cinnamon ice cream.
Goats milk creme brûlée with poached pears, fennel pollen, and pistachio crumble. Okay, this dessert was very disappointing. Goats milk sounded so interested but the creme brûlée was just done all bad! The texture of the creme brûlée itself was so tough and thick, not at all creamy and soft like it should be. I didn’t taste any goats milk. And the glaze on top wasn’t sweet.
Oh well!! But the French vanilla ice cream was very rich and cold. The cinnamon ice cream was interesting.
Overall, good birthday meal! Thank you again Dr. JoAnn for the treat. You are amazing and I am grateful to have you in my life. 🙂
