Today was Friday, June 26 and it was Vivian’s 25th birthday! She’s one of the coolest and most fun girls I met on this bachelorette trip! Just want to shout out from the beginning a happy bday. 🙂
Tiffany put together these little gifts for all of the girls. It includes a cute tassel chain. Inside there is alcohol sanitizer, Tylenol, Advil, emergenC, stuff like that. Thanks for the thought Tiff! You are such a sweet heart!
Also, Tiffany was the only one whose been to Tulum before so she was our main tour guide. She made most of the agenda and took us to places she’s been to before that she’s loved and had a good experience.
For breakfast, we went into the small resort beach town for the day. There is only one Main Street with boutiques and resorts. We got breakfast açaí bowls at Raw Love Tulum.
The signs kind of not guide us in the right direction but we found it.
It was a cute outdoor hut that served açaí bowls, breakfast foods and drinks. cute tables, chairs and benches.
Happy Bachelorette!!
I usually like my morning teas or coffees to be hot, but it was way to hot and humid. The sun felt like it was just glaring down on us. I ordered an iced matcha green tea latte. It was sooo refreshing and cooled down my tummy and insides.
Healthy Belly. Papaya, ginger, tumeric, passion fruit, banana, coconut milk. We ordered two of these because all of the girls were intrigued by it. I’m not sure if we waited too long to eat it because by the time we did touch the bowls, it seemed to have melted? Or it was always meant to be all liquid from the start because now that I look back on the menu, there was no mention of ice.
All of the bowls tasted similar, more or less. They were all topped with the same type of fruits but had some different key ingredients such as chia seeds that would change the texture of the bowl.
Green Goddess. Spinach, moringa, spirulina, banana, pineapple, ginger, coconut milk, passion fruit.
Coconut Yogurt. Young coconut meat cultured with probiotics, flavored and sweetened with seasonal fruits.
Tropical Kiss. Pineapple, banana, passion fruit, papaya, ginger, mango, coconut milk.
Chia Pudding. Chia seeds soaked in fresh coconut milk, spices, sprouted almonds, papaya chunks and honey.
None of the bowls stood out to me. But…
Avocado toasts. Pickled red bell peppers, sundried tomatoes, avocado spread. The avocado roasts were amazing!!!!!! The bread was freshly warm and crispy from the toast. There was a generous amount of spread. The creamy white sauce was very decadent and tied all of the vegetables together. I ate three of these in fact!
Then we took a short walk to Ziggy’s Beach Club. It’s a $50 minimum spending per person to be able to utilize the beach beds. It sounds a lot at first, but in the end, totally worth it.
Here is the bar, which we did not hang out at. Why hang out in here when we have our private beach beds?!
The beach beds!!!!!
Natural coconut. All of us ordered a coconut to drink for ourselves. I just wish they carved the opening of the hole bigger so that I can use a spoon to scrape the coconut off the insides of the walls. Otherwise, we finished drinking this too fast.
Maestro Tequilero. Tracey wanted tequila so we ordered tequila. Actually, they ordered two bottles.. and finished both. They think the alcohol was diluted because
1) We finished two bottles between 8 girls and was completely fine. That does not seem right.
2) It was not sealed when it came to us.
3) The bottle from the grocery tasted a lot stronger when we bought to compare.
Tropico. Sailor Jerry Rum, aromatic bitter, coconut cream, passion fruit, and cinnamon syrup. Here is my cocktail because I cannot survive if I solely drank liqueur by itself. I chose a very sweet and fruity cocktail that didn’t even taste like alcohol. Yes, I am a weak sauce like that and not ashamed of it! Let me sip on my weak drink and I will still have a good time!
You can tell I’m excited about being able to choose a drink that tasted amazing without the boyfriend’s help!
Chips and salsa on the house. There were three type of salsa. The green and red ones were obvious. But all three tasted delicious!!!! Our waiter gave us three of these platters!
Guacamole Ziggy’s. Served with fresh herb braised Panela cheese. This was soo good and filled with chunky avocado. It tasted very fresh too. The cheese was hard to scoop because it already hardened so I had to use a knife to cut it into chunks.
Ceviche Caribe. Shrimp, mango, red onion, mint, cucumber, jicama and a passion fruit-coconut mix. The ceviche tasted very refreshing and light. I loved the shrimp. The fruits were amazing.
Tuna Nachos. Fresh tuna marinated in soy sauce, sesame seed oil, avocado and sirarcha mayonnaise with cilantro sprouts on a fried wonton. This was my favorite! I love the generous chunks of tuna and avocado. The sesame seed oil gave it an Asian flair. The spicy mayo is a safe sauce for them to choose. It was like spicy tuna sushi roll done tostada style.
Here is our spread 🙂
Happy Birthday Vivian!! It was sweet that they gave her a small cake. It was a very dense and thick chocolate cake.
I think we spent more time on the beds drinking and eating than swimming in the waves. Actually none of us went in completely. Just our feet for the pictures!!! Lol!!!!!
Before dinner, we went to a bar restaurant across the street called Gitano while waiting for our reservation.
Mezcal. Cucumber. Rosemary. Lime. Raspberry. We got a light cocktail to refresh everyone. This was very easy on the alcohol.
Then we went to this crazy, popping restaurant across the street that reminded me of Gaam from K-town. It was a restaurant that served legitimately good food, but the ambiance was dark and loud like a club. Occasionally, the waiters would flash their lights at a table or use sparklers.
This was where the party was!!! It was an open restaurant so we didn’t expect the hot humidity of the environment. It was awfully hot. I was suffering. Period.
To start off, we were served very puffy and fluffy balls of bread topped with Parmesan cheese. It had a sweet flair to it.
Lola. Matusalem Classic Rum, passionfruit, strawberries, lime. It was too hot for me to even make a dent in my drink. But it was very fruity and sweet. I’m starting to notice a trend with the passion fruit.
These salsas were all un believably spicy! Ahhh!!!
Salmon Tiradito. Achiote, citrus, cucumber, pineapple, micro greens. Very refreshing, very light, easy to eat. Nothing special.
Spicy Octopus. Crispy grilled octopus, chipotle, paprika, guajillo vinaigrette. This was bomb.com. I want to say I’m proud to have ordered this for the table. The octopus was cooked extremely soft and tender. Soooo soft. Almost to the point of rawness but it wasn’t.
Giant organic beet. Chargrilled, feta cheese mousse, balsamic vinegar reduction, pistachios, baby arugula. I’m not a big fan of beets. I did not choose this. Lol.
Lobster Tacos. Avocado, habanero and cucumber dressing, pico de Gallo. My lobster tacos did not disappoint. It was a generous heap of lobster. It was good. The cucumber dressing was GOOD. The lobster was tender. The presentation was cute. I loved that they only gave one tortilla (and not two) per taco.
Beef Barbacoa. 21 oz slow cooked for 12 hours on a Maguey leaf. But this was the secret star of the show!!!!! The beef was extremely tender, extremely soft, fell off of each other. It was so juicy, so savory, and heavy. The leaf gave it an earthy smell too. My coworker told me that to make this, they dig a hole and heat it up underneath. That’s why it’s wrapped in a leaf.
I could pick at this and eat until I throw up. I could not stop. It was so good. Even as leftovers the next morning it was so good. Look at the meat just shred from each other.
This weekend is your weekend Tracey! Your girlfriends are all good people. I’m happy to have made new friends this weekend.
You are beautiful! I cannot believe you’re going to be married in less than a month. It seems so crazy. James is super duper lucky to have a beautiful sweet girl like you.
