Boba tasting was so fun today! For Marian’s upcoming wedding this fall, we went to Twinkle Brown Sugar in Little Tokyo for a boba tasting. Marian is going to have a boba bar at her wedding!!!!! And who better to boba taste with her than a boba lover?! Meeeeee! Thank you Marian! 🙂 I’m officially boba’ed out for a short while!
To start off, we tried some toppings that we are definitely going to get: honey boba, grass jelly and egg pudding. The bride likes grass jelly; the groom likes egg pudding. Easy. Now to decide on the drinks.
Just because you have to have a classic tea that is a general crowd pleaser and anyone can drink, we tasted and will have brown sugar milk tea at the wedding. It was milky and sweet. Everything will be at regular sweetness level. If it’s too sweet, well, the guests can spike it with some alcohol to kill the taste a little.
This is the Golden Nova drink, which is green tea with fruits. This drink was very refreshing and lightly sweet. This drink would be good for people to wash down the food.
This was the Cosmic Dream. And the name is befitting of the colors! It is like a colorful universe! The drink was very sweet. At the very bottom you have the lychee jelly. The next layer is strawberry boba, which actually tastes like strawberries and is very chewy! The next layer up is citrus boba, which was also very good!
This is a shaved ice kind of drink.
Sea salt Thai tea. This was very good! It was so rich and creamy and milky. This was also Brody’s favorite. Hands down, he immediately said that he wanted this tea at the wedding!!!!
I had to take another shot of the cream slowly creeping it’s way down to the bottom.
So far, we were 5 drinks in and didn’t expect to taste more.. these are all regular sizes too! They have a 32oz version too.
But they suggested to try more!!!! So this is a strawberries cream milk tea with strawberry bits. This was very creamy and mildly fruity.
It also has whipped cream too!
We had a total of 7 teas today! From left to right, mango green tea, strawberry cream milk tea, cosmic dream, golden nova, brown sugar milk tea, sea salt Thai tea, and rose lychee green tea (Marian’s favorite).
This was the most fun boba drinking I ever had! I think we spent 1-2 hours on this. We discussed a lot. It was good. 🙂 I can’t wait for their wedding!
