Our very last day in Dubrovnik started with heavy heavy rain and constant thunderstorms. We had no choice but to venture out in the pouring rain.
Luckily, our apartment manager let us drop off our luggage at his restaurant so that we can go eat lunch before heading to the airport.
We were all soaking wet. Even with my rain jacket, my shoes and leggings were soaked!!!!
We tried to go to the first restaurant we had lunch reservations at but they were only outdoors so we opted for a random one wherever we were at just to get out of the rain.
Coffee with cream.
What a cool olive oil and vinegar bottle! Do you see it?!
Grilled shrimp skewers in a bed of risotto. The shrimp was cooked perfectly with bell peppers and lightly sauced.
Traditional seafood risotto. Fresh mixed seafood, rice, tomato sauce. All of their risotto is so delicious!!! Al dente, perfectly textured. Their tomato sauce is so savory and creamy. The seafood is well cooked.
Adriatic calamari in prosek sauce. Calamari, tomato sauce, olives, capers, polenta, sweet wine prosek. I think this is what we ordered? Nevertheless, it was good. A pasta dish in a creamy sauce.
Royal seafood stew BRODET. Traditional recipe Croatian islands, different types of fresh fish, mixed seafood, white wine, polenta, tomato sauce, olive oil, capers. This was the best! This stew is so good and filling. It was all kinds of comfort. So rich and fulfilling. This is the kind of stew that filled my soul.
Selection of seafood delicacies. Marinated anchovies, shrimp pate, fish tartare. I’ve never had shrimp pate before; that was awesome! Evenly textured, perfectly smooth.
Octopus salad with potatoes and smoked ham. Octopus, potatoes, smoked ham, peppers, apples, red onion. This was like a cold dish – the octopus was perfectly cooked and light. It was soft and tender.
White fish “en papillote.” White fish baked in parchment paperwork vegetables, olives, garlic. Wow! This was so interesting. At first, I thought this looked like a tootsie roll. The fish is baked inside of the paper.
The sauce was very savory and flavorful. The potatoes soaked up all of the sauces. The fish was perfectly tender and cooked.
Clear fish soup. Fish, rice, parsley. This is the best fish soup I have ever had. Better than the lunch place yesterday! There is just something about the broth that is so rich and flavorful despite how clear it was. How do they do it?! It warmed my insides!
Ugh.. then fast forward.. back into the rain to go to the airport to fly to Munich, which according to weather, is going to start to rain tomorrow. 🙁
