I think I was only able to sleep 1hr last night. I fell asleep around midnight and we already had to wake up at 130am ish to take our 230am taxi ride to the airport. It was a good 30min ride. As usual, Vince and I love being at the airport super early to account for any circumstances. Boarding time was 530am for a 6am flight to Munich.
We went into Goldair CIP Lounge, the same lounge we scrambled in when we were rushing from landing in Athens to board a night time flight to Santorini. Vince was looking forward to getting their quinoa salad again to decipher but since it was really early (330am), they didn’t have the same items. Actually, they had better food!
There was a table of Greek yogurt with fruit accompaniments. There was pumpkin soup, which was so delicious I actually ate 3 bowls of it! Now my bladder is answering the soup calls. There was egg omelette which was okay. There was also spinach pie and vegetable and cheese pie, which was good.
I didn’t get anything else. I got some coffee with milk and sugar. But man, the pumpkin soup was sooo good. It made me wonder if I should have ordered pumpkin soup at the few restaurants that offered it.. was it even better? I’ll never know!
We relaxed in the lounge for 2hr before boarding time. Time flies when you can relax in a nice lounge.
In Munich, we will have a 4.5hr layover, where we will have time (hopefully) to get customs stamps, check out duty free shops before the last long leg of flying and another lounge.
So sadly, the priority pass lounges are all in terminal 1 of Munich airport and we landed and flying lit of terminal 2. There were a lot of watches on sale but none that Vince wanted. I did manage to snag a last minute souvenir. We spent some time searching and doing the global blue tax refund. It is easy if we were to know exactly where to go but finding it and being lost in a big airport added time. The airport is super nice though! It’s like a huge mall in terms of its layout, decor, shops, bathrooms etc. you just don’t feel like you’re in an airport.
After some sitting and voicing my concern about not needing to poop yet before a 12hr flight, Vince suggested getting a coffee to help stimulate it. So we went to Sissi & Franz Bar, the only thing that you can buy and sit at. I got the Milchkaffee. Within half a cup and 15min, the feeling came! 🙂 and I went! Yip yip hurray!
Now that that stressor is out of the way, I’m going to try to look forward to the two meals on this flight and hope time flies fast. I can’t wait to be home already and unpack all the souvenirs and do laundry. Yikes!
So the first meal on the plane was absolutely delicious! It was a ravioli with like a cream of mushroom sauce. It was stuffed with either pumpkin, butternut squash or sweet potato. So delicious!! Plenty of mushrooms. It also came with Brie cheese which was also good. I put the croissant bread on top of the ravioli tin foil to warm it up because it was so hot. Salad was okay.
Breakfast was a bit more disappointing. It was a whole grain bread with some orange spread, carrots, zucchini and cheese. It came with yogurt and a Milka bar.
Oh well, I guess that concludes our short Greece trip. Now I know how gyros are really made and taste in Greece and now we also know we love orzo!!
