Because my little sister, Trookie, has to fly to Israel for work during my birthday, she made a big effort to make time to take me out to eat before she left. This past Monday, she treated our mommy and me to a birthday lunch at Boston Lobster, our mommy’s latest favorite restaurant. It’s located on Rosemead Blvd and Lower Azusa and used to be the old sea restaurant. It is currently going renovations because it is not a Chinese restaurant, but still open for delicious business.
Their lunch specials is what’s worth it. Even though they recently increased their lunch prices, it is still so cheap compared to other lunch specials in the area. It is either $11.95 or 12.95 depending on what dish you order and comes with unlimited white rice and jasmine tea.
Lobster isn’t part of the lunch special but when our mommy and I go eat lunch weekly there, we see so many tables order their lobster. We got to try it! It’s also in their name and wanted to see how it compares to Newport Seafood.
Lobster with E-fu noodles. We asked for the smallest lobster and that was still 3.5lb. It was about $25-28/lb (I forgot because I didn’t pay haha) but still around $100. You pay $8 extra for the E-fu noodles underneath. The lobster is chopped up in approachable pieces so you don’t have to work too hard to get the meat out. There were plenty of eggs within the noodles and in the shells themselves. The taste is very garlicky and savory and flavorful. It was delicious. I loved it.
Fish fillet with basil. ($12.95) This is one of our favorite lunch special items. It’s cooked with basil and has a lot of garlic. So tender and soft. The garlic is strong. I love the clear sauce. Perfect with rice!
Clam with basil. ($12.95) This is my #1 favorite with the fish fillet a very close second. It’s cooked the same way but it is just saucier. I am also partial to clams. I love clams. They’re my favorite shellfish!! The basil is delicious. Very garlicky again. I love drenching my white rice with the sauce.
Salt and pepper shrimp. My mom loves this. With shell on, it adds to the crispy and crunchy texture. Yes, you do eat the head, which is the best part because it has the brains and eggs in it! Most flavorful part!!
Service is always fast and friendly. We have been going so much that one of the waiters, Simon, recognizes us and always makes an effort to say hi!
Thank you again little sister for birthday lunch! I love you!
