Phu’s Bakery has been around in SGV for a long time now. Located in South El Monte, it’s a tiny bakery shop that’s known for their delicious and fresh Portuguese egg tarts. I would say these are comparable to SF’s famous Golden Gate Bakery, BUT they are Portuguese instead of Hong Kong. With more dependable hours and reasonable prices, it’s easier to grab a hold on one of these golden gems since the SF ones seem so unattainable.

They make the egg tarts fresh every day and literally all day! Call ahead and put in an order to avoid waiting there when they’re in between batches. Come early right when they open to be the first to snag the first fresh batch! Fresh and hot from the oven. So delicious!!
