We are such troopers! After we landed in Zurich after NO sleep on our 10 hour flight from Vancouver, we went straight to our hotel, checked in, dropped off luggage and went off adventuring right after.
Some of us were getting a little hungry so we went to a random cafe for some baked goods and coffee.
We got a variety of 3 quiches because I heard that that’s what they’re known for! Two savory and one sweet. The savory includes a tomato and spinach quiche and an Indian curry based theme one. The third quiche was like a sweet dessert.
We randomly came across a chocolate store and I couldn’t resist and went in.
I got a truffle for myself to try. It was a pistachio dark chocolate truffle.
The outside shell was a nice crunchy layer of dark chocolate, well tempered. The inside was the softest and smoothest pistachio ganache ever!
We walked around somewhere and did a nice stroll until we decoded to have dinner here. It was well reviewed for Swiss food. I insider on wanting to try Swiss food while I were out here.
Creamy pumpkin soup garnished with roasted pumpkin seeds and a cream rosette. Almost all of us got the pumpkin soup. We all wanted something soupy. It wasn’t as thick as I expected but the flavor is very good.
Marinated perch fillets served with boiled potatoes and tartar sauce. Fried fish was good! Potatoes are very buttery.
Venison escalope in a creamy game sauce, served with homemade spaetzle, red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, glazed chestnuts and white wine poached apple filled with cranberries. Venison was actually very tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. I didn’t really have any interest trying to sweet components.
Hungarian paprika Schnagg. Paprika flavored pan fried pork sausage for everyone who likes it spicy. The sausage looks funny like that! It was good but I wish the potato salad weren’t so acidic.
Then we took a short stroll to Laderach for some truffle chocolates for dessert.
To end the day, I got 5 dark chocolate truffles for myself in various styles and added components. My favorite was this basic small cute shaped dark chocolate that was also intermersed with ground nuts. So delicious and smooth. I’m going to get more on the last day to bring back!
Okay so tired and delirious and sleepy from two days no sleep. Oh my god I’m fighting falling asleep trying to type the last of this. Painful. Will have a good nights rest and then go to the mountains tomorrow!!!!
