Not to my surprise, I was jet lagged and only slept for 3hr. I woke up at 2am and stayed up until we had to leave for the tour. We walked to the tour stop, which only took 15 mins in the wee early hours of 630am.
It was a very full and eventful day! Everyone had fun! We took a breathtaking ride up to the valley and saw so much beautiful nature within the green cities of Grindelwald and Interlaken.
We got some cappuccinos and croissants from Cafe de Paris during a pit stop while exploring Interlaken. The croissants were amazingly fresh and flaky!!
Then we took the Eiger Express gondola up to the Eiger Glacier Station. From there, we took a cogwheel train to Jungfraujoch. The most fun part was being silly and sliding around in the Ice Palace. Vince actually slipped and fell and knocked another girl down.
For lunch, we ate at a self service cafeteria.
Vince and I shared two dishes. They were pricey for being up there but were delicious because we were hungry.
Veal sausage, French fries and onion sauce. It was just one big sausage. Did not look like what I expected but actually very soft and very juicy. Fries were crunchy soft.
Swiss pasta with bacon and apple sauce. This was pretty good! It came with crispy bacon bits and I mixed it up with the carrots.
For our way back down, we took two different trains to get a closer look at the mountain landscapes. We saw beautiful things we didn’t catch from above on the way up. This mountain is so pretty and the city might be the prettiest I’ve ever seen.
After a 2hr ride back to the city, dinner was another mission. We wanted to make it a fast and easy decision. We briefly glanced at nearby restaurants after getting off the bus on the way home and found Restaurant St. Gallerhof with a Swiss menu. WIN!
Black Angus minced steak with herb butter and fried egg with mixed salad. I got tricked that this wasn’t a piece of whole steak but at least the minced meat was very fatty and well seasoned and cooked.
Veal cut into strips Zurich style with rosti (hash browns). This was soooo good and I loved everything about it because it’s everything I love about food! Tender meat, very creamy sauce, mushrooms and hash browns?! LOVE IT! My only sadness and regret is that I forgot to take a picture of it Wahh!! I was distracted with so many commands from everyone all at once and separating the food that it just escaped me.
T-bone pork steak 250 gr with herb butter and vegetables. My husband got this and it was good! A little on the dryer side.
Sadly, no chocolate stores open at this hour for dessert for me.. 🙁 I’m still sad I forgot to take a picture of the favorite thing I ate today..
