Oh man everyone slept so well last night. We all thought we’d wake up early due to jet lag but I woke up to others waking up at 730am. From deep sleep still so that means I could have slept in more! Wow that felt good.
I quickly got ready because we promised the adults we’d take them to a coffee shop for some morning coffee and pastries. We went to Delish, which turned out to be a coffee shop that’s underneath a hotel.
I got the Latte macchiato and a Croissant. I learned that a latte macchiato has 3 layers: espresso, milk and foam. I added two sugar packets. The croissant was okay but disappointing because it was nowhere near as good as yesterdays and not fresh.
Then we walk to Joe & The Juice for the parents to get juice and sandwiches for the train ride. I was excited to try a juice because I saw this all over Copenhagen and at the Copenhagen Airport and was mildly curious.
Vince got the Prince of green juice (Cucumber, Ice, Lemon, Olive Oil, Pineapple). I personally did not like the taste of it but I guess it is healthy for him.
It turns out their sandwiches are actually paninis! Makes sense where it’s over $10 per sandwich. Both sandwiches were so good and refreshing and very filling. They were pressed and the bread had a nice crunch for the outer shell. I really enjoyed the vegan pesto sauce in the tunavocado.
Tunavocado. Avocado, Joe’s Classic Bread, Tomato, Tuna, Vegan Pesto.
Serrano. Avocado, Joe’s Classic Bread, Mozzarella, Serrano ham, Tomato, Vegan Pesto.
After checking out of the hotel, we walked to Mico de Bubble for some milk tea for the train ride also. I got the roasted oolong milk tea at 50%. Their boba wasn’t ready yet so I got no toppings. It was decent! I wouldn’t say anywhere near as good as 626 but it satisfies the cravings for now.
The lady who made our drinks was Vietnamese. She had a cute personality. She was also very nice and friendly. We definitely want to pay her another visit during our last two days when we’re back in Zurich.
After our train switch in Dijon, I decided to indulge on my three chocolate truffles I got from Sprungli at the Zurich HB train station.
I got a pistachio truffle and two dark chocolate mixed with nuts. They were smooth and creamy and delicious. Not as good as the other two chocolate places but still good!
Still waiting to eat the mini macarons when I have the stomach too!!! I got a small box of 4. These macarons are something special and unique. They’re still the same puffiness but mini size! So adorable and cute! I will take a picture when I finally indulge them. (:
Actually.. after having a homemade dinner by Vince’s French family (which consisted of delicious rotisserie chicken, sweet potatoes, salmon, salad and fine patisserie from a local bakery), I was going to put away the box of macarons when I saw a little sticker that said to please consume immediately..
So even though I had already brushed my teeth, I felt obligated to eat them to appreciate them as fresh as possible and as instructed. To my delight, they were absolutely wonderful! They were a variety of French and chocolate macarons with slight variations. The creme mousse is so creamy and light and soft. The macaron cookies are also so light and soft and delicately crispy. I am in love….! No words can describe the skilled level of textured and flavors mastered..
