Good morning to another day of commute! Today we take the train from Marseille to Lourdes with one transfer. The train station looks nicer than the one in Zurich with much more shops. One of the stands was a bakery called Paul depuis 1889, which is the same patisserie our cousin got the desserts from. It smells so good.
I couldn’t help but indulge myself in a croissant, which was very buttery. The outside flakes were lightly crispy and the inside was soft.
On the train ride, I finally ate my premade baguette with butter and sausage-like pate. It wasn’t really pate, but more like a ham? I also added some cows milk cheese triangles in that the uncle gave us. Made for a delicious ride food.
We finally arrived to Lourdes at 1730 and walked up and down cute and steep hills until we got to our Hotel Mirasol. It was the nicest and cutest hotel we’ve been to so far! Small, yet very new and clean.
After we got holy water from the Grotto of Massabielle, we grabbed dinner at Carte Au Roi Albert. We were starving and didn’t want to walk far because Bac Phung felt weak. It was 9pm.
Duck foie gras house. It came with a simple side salad with cantaloupe. The foie gras was only okay. Nothing special.
Vegetable soup. We each had a bowl of vegetable soup which felt hearty and comforting even though it felt like it was canned.
Lamb chop, green salad. Vince and I shared our entrees. The lamb chop had a nice char. The fries were delicious. The side salad was simple yet satisfying. We must have been hungry!
Duck confit, chips, green salad. The duck confit was also very good! Tender and flavorful. The gravy on both was perfect! It also came with this semi sweet red sauce glaze? That paired perfectly with the duck!
Across the small street, I spied Amorino, one of my favorite Italian gelato places. I couldn’t help but get myself a cone of pistachio and tiramisu gelato in the shape of a rose!! Delicious, not too sweet and refreshing.
Night time, Vince’s dad, Vince and I went to to the hotel bar for a quick night cap! I just got orange juice.
