Today has been a crazy travel day so far. We got to the airport super early to handle a couple of customs stamps for Global Blue refund, but the lack of crowd control at the Passport Control turned it into a 1hr nightmare where everyone was pushing and shoving to get through to make their flights.
We did manage to squeeze time into the Aspire Lounge at Zurich Airport to check it out. It was fairly small with limited options.
There were some coffee machines, a self-serve cocktail bar and some hot foods and pastries. I got some scrambled eggs and beans to eat for breakfast; just something to stomach down until we are fed on the airplane. The eggs were dry and seemed to be made from an instant package. The brown beans were much better with a slight acidic taste.
But we made it!!! Our flight was delayed by 30min, which only worked in our favor.
For lunch, we had:
Quinoa salad, which was fairly good. There was a sour taste and it was saucey. I somehow found it refreshing and liked it.
Cheese. A stick of cheese; it was soft and good.
Casarecce pasta with tomato sauce and cheese. I should have chosen the chicken and vegetables option. That was sooo good but I gotta eat my mistake. It was just okay. Surprisingly, it was on the dryer side and tasted bland. I was sad. 🙁
Cake. This was a chocolate cake. It smelled very good; sweet and chocolatey. It was a bit dry. If I were very hungry, i would have thought it tasted better.
After “waking up in the plane” and before landing, we were fed some unbelievably delicious hot pastries.
Coconut Chicken savory pastry. A crispy lattice pastry filled with pieces of chicken in a coconut curry sauce. It was so delicious and savory!! So good I ate another one! They had leftovers and encouraged to eat more or else they’ll have to throw the leftovers away. So good!! I’m also only eating up because I know the second short leg will have no food served.
During a rushed transfer in Vancouver, everyone wanted a juice from Joe & the Juice. I got the cucumber, apple, pineapple juice called Power Man I think? It was very refreshing and light. Mildly sweet.
I couldn’t take a picture of it due to the rushed circumstances, but nevertheless, we made it back home with no delay! 🙂
