This morning, I ate the curry croquettes that I didn’t eat last night. I forgot to take a picture of the cross section but they were both curry croquettes with one of them having an addition of a hard boiled egg. There was a lot of curry inside and tasted like typical Japanese curry. The croquette was soft already even after I tried to heat it up by placing on top of my hot tea cup. Still good even though no fresh and crispy and I can only imagine how much better it would have tasted fresh!
After we got to Tokyo, we dropped off our luggage at the hotel before checkin at 3pm. We went out and I was craving tsukemen after that Shinkansen ride. We didn’t walk far and randomly stumbled into a small tsukemen shop. We ordered via vending machine and sat and slurped.
It was so delicious! The dipping broth was very thick and savory. Heavy on the garlic and black pepper, which I enjoyed. The noodles were cooked perfectly and soft and chewy. I noticed the chopsticks had ridges on the end to hold onto the noodles. The thick broth clung onto the noodles. It was so good and totally hit the spot.
My only regret was that I ordered a size small and realized soon after I should have gotten a medium. I was so hungry but was also scared of being overstuffed after yesterday. Oh well!! I ate slowly to savor every bite.. and even drank some of the broth hehe!
After walking around Shibuya Crossing and failing to find a tea spot for matcha latte, my mom finally caved and settled for Starbucks. I reassured her that at least they’ll use even better ingredients in Japan. She said her matcha Frappuccino was very good.
I got the hot hojicha latte, which was comforting, creamy and lightly sweet. We dipped and chilled at Starbucks until it was closer to our check-in time.
For an early dinner, we walked down to UOBEI SUSHI Revolving Sushi Bar at 5pm. We purposely went early to beat the dinner rush. We saw on YouTube that the line gets long during lunch and dinner rush hours.
This recovering sushi bar is slightly different. You get a check card number with your assigned seat. There is self serve hot and cold water spout at the seat with cups and green tea powder to make yourself a cup of tea. There are also condiments at the counter.
You order with the iPad in front of you and your order will come via the revolving sushi belt right in front of you to take off. It was so fun!!! I miss revolving sushi bars and loved it. It was so fun.
The sushi pieces were also all very good too! Rice was always soft and warm. The fishes all tasted very fresh. Fish was also very flaky and soft. My favorites were the seared fatty salmon pieces and ones dressed with mayo on top. The seared pieces were done perfectly.
I wanna come back here but I feel like we need to try other revolving sushi bars first! You can clearly tell there is a common theme with what kind of fish and nigiri I like…
