I don’t even know where to start!!! There were so many gelato places in Italy! There were probably more gelato stands in Italy as to boba places in 626! Easily. I’m not even sure if I could find all the gelato pictures that we’ve eaten. But all in all, we’ve hit gelato places in Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice. Even though there were some that were way more popular than others, ALL of them are good!! Delicious!! Prices were pretty standard everywhere! I think 2.50euros for 2 scoops in either a cup or cone.
But here are some of the places we’ve tried..
Gelateria dei Neri – pomegranate and watermelon. This was one of the most popular places in Italy. The line is almost always long and it’s really crowded with a lot of young people! They’re known for their fruity flavors. Here we have a super, super tarte pomegranate and a delicious, light watermelon.
Bar Cafe Eden – Cherry Amarena and Melone. The cherry is at the bottom (you can barely see it). There’s itsy bitsy pieces of cherries in the gelato too! And melon is actually cantaloupe in Italian! It created a confusion at first; I thought melon was watermelon, but Italians love cantaloupe!
Gelato Giusto – Sicillian Pistachio and Stracciatella. Almost everywhere I go, I try pistachio. It’s just so good. So, so good. Especially with that nutty taste. Stracciatella is a milk-based gelato with chocolate shavings within. Doesn’t look like it but it tasted refreshing and sweet!
Tre Gazzelle – Pistachio and Melon. Pistachio again! And cantaloupe!! So refreshing to walk around with gelato in your hand. This was at the shopping center.
Limon and Vanilla. Vanilla gelato tastes better than vanilla ice cream! It’s not too milky and is so refreshing. And the lemon flavor? Wow!! This flavor blew my mind!! It was tarte but not too sour. It was just perfect! And actually quenched my thirst! Surprise!!
But really? I miss Italy. I miss gelato in Italy! After you have gelato in Italy, gelato in America doesn’t taste or feel the same anymore. It’s just not the same. It’s still too milky here like ice cream. It’s not REAL Italian gelato! And you know how here you see people holding boba or coffee drinks everywhere they go? In Italy, it’s cones or cups of gelato instead. Sooo much better! <3
