What does a typical Monday for me look like? For most people, it means work. Monday is always the busiest day of the week for anyone working any profession. And why?! Because there are so many clients out there that also don’t work and need business done on Mondays!! I’m sorry to boast, but I’m one of them. As a registry nurse, I get to choose my own schedule and for the most part, I voluntarily choose to not work on Mondays 😀 YAY <3 Because Mondays are also my mommy’s day off! So mommy and daughter day every Monday!! It always involves us eating at some local restaurant during their lunch specials. This Monday, as our first Monday back together from our month long vacation trips, we decided to eat somewhere super close to home: Banana Bay, Temple City, CA. They have pretty good lunch special deals!

For just 99 cents more, you can add a thai tea or thai coffee to your lunch meal! They’re pretty good actually!! Thick and sweet with lots of cream on top. I enjoyed swirling it and watching it all mixed together in one uniform color.
hainan chicken – boneless steamed chicken served over a bed of rice made with ginger, garlic and chicken broth; served with soup and a homemade sauce. Thought it would be interesting to try Hainan chicken cooked Thai style! It was pretty good! The rice was flavorful and enjoyable to eat, but the white chicken was a bit dry at the breast. The soup was very savory and comforting to drink. But the sauce..? I’m used to Hainan chicken served with the 3 different sauces, but I guess Thai people just need this one special brown sauce that has a spicy kick to it.
pad se ew with beef – stir-fried soft rice noodles with eggs, Chinese broccoli, sweet soy sauce. Yummy. Cannot go wrong with pad se ew! I loved their generosity with the eggs compared to other restaurants! And Chinese broccoli in a Thai dish? Hmm.. but it works!
Now Cookie always wants dessert at the end of her meal.. It doesn’t matter how full she is, there is ALWAYS room for dessert! And thankfully for this plaza, there is a JJ Bakery just a few steps away..
WHAT IS THIS BIG THING?! IT IS AN EGG TART!!! WHAAAAAT! :O It’s so big!!! I didn’t know these egg tarts can come in extra-large!!! But looking closely, it’s labeled German Egg Tart in their bakery.. So Taiwanese Egg Tarts made German-style.. Now how did this taste?! Pretty sweet! However.. the big size of the egg tart alone calls for a thicker crust… And thicker crust doesn’t mean more crispy and sweet 🙁 I didn’t enjoy the crust as much as the egg pudding part in the middle.. But at least I tried it!! 🙂

It’s almost as big as my face! HOLY MOLY <3 And that’s what I ate today!! Thanks for reading guys 🙂
