Welcome to the land of intestines! A wonderful restaurant in the heart of Koreatown dedicated to the variety of small and large intestines for us to chow down and munch! Do you like intestines and can’t get enough of it? Come to Ahgassi Gopchang to eat their flavorful grilled intestines. (Don’t worry; they have all the other basic meats here too but their specialty is intestine hehe).
We start out with some simple sides and dipping sauces to prepare our palates with. There is thin leaf to wrap your meat in (in place of rice paper here). On your left you will also notice a large bowl of light broth to cleanse your palate with in between meats.
We ordered the Yang Daechang Combo, which includes mountain tripe, large intestine, abomasum, roasted garlic and stew. Abomasum is the reed tripe from the fourth and final stomach compartment.
I just wanted to throw in a picture of raw large intestine before it is cut up and cooked. 😉
Here we started out with both the Mountain tripe and abomasum together. Cooking on the grill.
The steamed egg and soybean paste stew came! I love their stew soup! It consists of shredded pork meat and soft tofu as the main protein.
Our tripe is ready to eat! It was very chewy and soft. So chewy that I had a couple of pieces stuck in between my teeth! Their seasoning made the tripe flavorful and savory.
Our intestine is ready to be cooked!
Notice how they change the grill to cook the intestine! My favorite part is watching the fatty insides of the intestine sizzle while it cooks.
I love, love, love grilled intestine! It is so chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. And I love chewing on the intestine! Each bite gives out a burst of savory juices that overflow in my mouth. Yummmmmyyy.
This is one of the few KBBQ restaurants that I regularly come back to! The food and service never disappoints! The soju makes the eating and company more fun! And I’m delighted to announce that they are going to open a second location right in Temple City soon! Yip, yip, hurray!
