So this past weekend I went back to SD to revisit all of my favorite restaurants for a bunch of delicious good food and drinks. Looking back, I think I blogged about almost all of these places individually…so some of the foods might be a bit redundant but its under a different occasion. 🙂 Plus, I did try new foods for the most part!
First place, let’s go back to Nolita Hall in Little Italy for some delicious orange foam Garibaldi and margherita pizza.
Garibaldi. Campari & fluffy OJ on ice. This drink is always a refreshing and pulpy cocktail that just feels like it’s full of vitamin C. It is sweet and you can taste the alcohol at all! I can drink this like it’s juice.
Kensington Margherita pizza. Bianco organic tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, reggiano, California extra virgin olive oil. This is still the best simple margherita I’ve ever ate.
I also went back to an old Mexican favorite called Luche Libre for their surf n turf burrito.
Surf & turf burrito. Steak, shrimp, rice, avocado, pico de gallo, secret chipotle sauce. Is it me or did their burrito sizes get smaller?! I feel like they were bigger with more meat and more shrimp!
Ever since we ate brunch at Madison on Park, we’ve been dying to come back for dinner. Check out a different ambiance.
Sparrow. Flor de Cana Rum, raspberry, pink peppercorn infused honey, lime. OOO this was a dense, sweet cocktail!!!!! Very vibrant and refreshing too.
Umbrella. St. George green Chile vodka, cucumber, lemon, club soda. I loveeeee the cup!
Shrimp aguachile with black ash mole. Radish, cucumbers, avocado purée, petite cilantro. I think there was too much mole sauce in the middle. I would have liked a lot less. Nevertheless, the shrimp was cleaned and partly shredded, soft. The presentation was beautiful.
Skirt steak. Sliced steak, guacamole, chimichurri, citrus yogurt sauce. THIS WAS SOOO GOOD!!!! Omg. Hands down, the only best skirt steak I’ve ever had! I never liked skirt steak before and was a bit hesitant to order this, but oh my god. This is so good?!?! And the three sauces were yummy!!!! The chimichurri sauce was out of this world.
Portabella fries. Avocado cilantro aioli, chipotle pepper sauce. Ohhhh yeahhh! Give me some crunchy crisp fries on the outside and juicy, moist mushrooms packed with flavor on the inside 🙂
Mr. Nice Guy. Humboldt distillary hemp seed infused vodka, mezcal, matcha, pineapple, coconut milk, lime. This drink tastes as good as it is beautiful. A very delicate presentation for such a bold ingredient.
Hot water. Cause I’m sick!
Our waitress noticed I was cold and offered a blanket for me. It even has their restaurant logo on there!!!!!!! It was a really sweet gesture. Hands down, Madison is my favorite in SD. The blanket was soft and cozy.
Local corvina. Tomato, onion, green olive, jalapeño, lime served with garlicky sautéed spinach & asparagus.
Look at how flaky the fish is. And the light tomato sauce was delicioussssss
Chocolate marquise. Flourless chocolate cake dark chocolate mousse, raspberry sauce. Free cake with Yelp check-in! Last time we tried carrot cake. This time we wanted to try the chocolate. For a flourless cake, this was dense, sweet, rich and smooth!!!!! I was taken for a complete surprise!
Look at that cross section. So smooth. So decadent. So beautiful. So delicious. And free!
I love it!!! Madison is my favorite!!!!!
To hang out with the boys, we went to Cross Street Chicken & Beer. The last time we went, it was during their soft opening so they didn’t have beer yet. Now we’re back and we find ourselves in a full-blown restaurant that also had a beer garden outside where you can drink, eat, play games and hang out on the fake grass. The concept is so cool!!!!!
Their chicken is as good as always. Very moist and tender on the inside with a thick crunchy crust. They even have their spicy challenge now where the boys couldn’t even bite it. It hurt. I used my fork to just try ONE speck of the sauce and somehow my nose burned. It was awful!!!! Our waiter told us that people have completed the challenge before but either vomited or passed out. Does not sound worth it.
OO.. Mr. Steal Yo-Gurt. Yogurt, pomegranate, sprite, chamisul.
Garlic Parmesan, salt & pepper, and Seoul spicy chicken wings. 1lb each.
Franken tots. Beer battered tots topped with caramelized onions, chicken and special house sauce.
BBS (Carolina Reaper). AKA Butt Burning Sensational fried chicken.
Soooooo it looks like I won’t be back in SD for a while, but that’s okay! I got my SD fix for now 🙂
I feel like I rushed this blog but I wanna study but at the same time post something so I don’t forget what I ate!!!!! 🙂
Until next time…. PLUSSSS I’ve blogged about all these places before already.. hehe
