Our last morning in Paris and we spent it eating and drinking coffee at a restaurant called Terminus Lyon right across from the train station. The menu had crepes and croquette madame so we wanted to try it!
The food in general was more disappointing because it was dry overall. However, the croissant was top notch. Very buttery, flaky, crispy, soft on the inside and warm. Must be made fresh everywhere!!!
CAPPUCINO. My CAPPUCINO was perfect with two extra packets of sugar. Very foamy on top. Presentation was aesthetic as always.
Crepe complete (jambon, fromage, oeuf). I didn’t like the actual crepe. Too dry. Jambon was too dry. Cheese wasn’t even melted. Not good!!! Very disappointing. Didn’t even look nice.
Croque madame. It also came with a side salad and fries. The fries were dry and not good. Salad was simple and refreshing. Can’t make that wrong. The croque madame was so dry and too much bread. The jambon was disappointing too. This was aesthetically pleasing but didn’t taste as good as it looked.
Croissant. Was delicious and I got an extra to-go.
At Gare de Lyon, I saw L’aduree and couldn’t resist. I tried to go yesterday on Ave Champs d’Elysees but the line was too long.
Marie Antoinette tea. Mildly sweet and enjoyably bitter from the taste of tea. Ridiculously soft. Way better than the location in Glendale.
Peanut butter. Mild taste of peanut butter to be enjoyable by anyone who loves or just okay with it. Delicious!! And my first time seeing peanut butter as a macaron flavor.
I wish I can buy a whole big box of macarons but I know I’ll want to indulge in chocolate when I’m back in Zurich. At least I got a cute L’aduree bag from my purchase!
How fleeting each moment of joy is. Leaves me wanting more. The beauty of traveling.
After we checked into our beautiful Hotel Felix, we took a small stroll around Old town and decided to eat at Steakhouse Old Town. We originally wanted to try the ostrich steak here but they ran out!!!!
Corn cream soup. This was sooo good!! They use real corn!! It was served hot, slightly creamy and definitely corny. Very comforting to eat before our steak.
Of course, with steaks I have to get a dry red wine to go with: I chose a Swiss wine of course: Dorenoir Composition. Strata – Weinkellerei Rahm. Schaffouse Switzerland. Pinky Noir.
Rib eye bone hot stone special with grilled vegetables. This was mostly Vince’s piece. He got a fairly large piece, like 300g. It was good!! But mine was better..
Swiss dry aged ribeye steak with potato au gratin. This piece was so tender, juicy, soft, served perfectly medium rare and even by the time I finished to the end, it was still medium rare. Very tender and juicy omg. So soft.
The steaks are cooked on hot stone so that if we want it more rare, we take it off sooner. If we want it more cooked, leave it on the stone longer.
It also comes with 3 dipping sauces:
BBQ, Cafe du Paris, Chimichurri.
The pink sauce tasted like a creamy bbq sauce. The butter was named Cafe du Paris. The chimichurri was had olive oil and parsley but pretty boring per Vince.
After dinner, we walked a few steps to Dieci to get some gelato as a palate cleanser and to wash down the heaviness of the steak.
I got a small cup of pistachio and coffee, which was refreshing and light.
After we dropped off the parents, we went back out to Kontiki Bar for a night cap.
It had almost a divy vibe but more casual and chill. There was even a weed menu and a smoking lounge upstairs.
Mighty Mary. Gin, guave, Zitronensaft, grapefruitsoft, grapefruitsirup, basilikum. This was served with a dusted basil for aroma. It was tart and acidic.
Tiki tea. Skipper rum, Falernum, Limettensaft, orgeat syrup, CBD-Eistee. This drink I like after smashing up the dehydrated orange fruit slices. I made it more sweet. Very light and refreshing. Vince says it’s like a Lipton tea with a splash of tiki.
Both drinks are strong!
What a great afternoon and evening.
I love Switzerland. It feels so safe walking around everywhere.
