This morning, we got picked up for our tour to see the pyramids.. Actually, we learned that they’re actually not pyramids because they’re not pointy at the top. They’re actually temples where they build a lot of rocks around mountains.
We checked out the temples of the sun, moon and something else!
Now what really impressed me was what we had for lunch. Usually tour food is not good. However, today was an exception! Our tour guide took us to a restaurant called El Jaguar. There was either an option to do their buffet or order from their menu. I was traumatized by buffets and don’t like stuffing myself. We opted for the menu.
The horchata was only… very okay.. not that good actually… very dry watery and powdery…
Vince got a plate of beef fajitas that came with some guacamole, cheese, rice and grilled onions and peppers. He said his was tasty too. He put his ingredients in tortillas.
My mom and I decided to share a plate of grilled proteins and vegetables, which included shrimp, fish and bbq beef steak. There was also chicharron, cucumber, tomato, and peppers. On top, you have two types of cheeses. This was delicious!!! Everything was so good and juicy!! My mom and I finished all of it! The presentation was also aesthetically pleasing, especially using the original grinder as the plating.
Afterwards, we went to visit the Basilica de Guadalupe! There was an old church and a new church. The new church is being built because the old church is leaning due to the earthquakes weakening the ground underneath.
After we took a small break in the hotel, we walked back to Churreria El Moro again to get an order of moritos churros and chocolate dip to share. They’re basically churros cut into small, bite size pieces for easier to share and enjoy. Almost like tator tots! I feel like these are crispier and crunchier too.
Four of us also got the horchata lattes again! This time they offered whipped cream for us but they made it lighter in taste. It feels more milky and less chocolatey and caramel-y. Still good though!!
After walking around and searching for our favorite taco stand from 2 years ago when we had the best tripa tacos ever, WE FOUND THE STAND!! We even found our old hotel (NH Hotel Collection) and backtracked our way through familiar streets and shops to it!!!!
Right across from the taco stand was a new bigger restaurant that seemed lively. We decided to stop in for one taco each because SOMEONE needed to poop and use the restroom. It was fine because I actually picked a delicious taco.
The bathroom stop was called Tacos La Chula. Every table was served a plate of salsa varieties and lime.
Arrachera taco. This was my taco. It was skirt steak meat with cheese. It was delicious and soft and juicy and flavorful. They gave plenty of cheese!
Suadero taco. Vince got this taco, which he said was just okay.
Ricos Tacos Londres IS OUR TACO STAND. ON THE CORNER OF Liverpool & Niza. The price sign looks the same for except they increased it to 45 pesos. So instead of 30 cents per taco, it’s now 50 cents per taco. The same big order of takeout and a guy with a motorcycle waiting to drive off with it. The same metal stand. The same plates. It just all looks the same.
Even my plate of 5 tripa tacos look the same from my pic I took 2 years ago!!! AND IT WAS SO GOOD AND DELICIOUS. I am beyond happy!!!! The tripa was soft and chewy and flavorful. The tortilla was very thin, small and lightly crisp on the edges.
The big bowls of salsa varieties was generous and plentiful.
Trip successful 🙂
